I agree that for a lot of 50 ponies, 40 would normally seem low. Even $1 per pony would be less than a lot of people would pay per pony...even if the ponies turn out to be bait.

However, that being said I think if you are buying sight unseen its a gamble so I would understand being at the low end.

Personally I would either ask for images so you can judge condition and price more fairly. Or I would offer the $50 and when you have the ponies, if you think the lot is 4 or 5 times that value due to excellent condition or a harder to find pony or two, I would perhaps offer the seller a little more to balance it out. As its not ebay and the money is going to such a good cause I would feel guilty of doing anything else.

yeah thats  what i think i will do. i know that   50 is low  for hat many but then agian i'm just going on his gestimation. i'm not sure thre are 50.  i did call him and  told  him that if i cn get images or looka t he ponys more then likely the offer  might go up. if thres anythign goodi ntehre (and how  my fiances look) and he said ok  he would let me know.  i just didint wanna pay  70.00 or so  and get a bunch of messed up ponys.

I think you're going about it the right way. About $1 each is more than they're getting right now, sitting in a tub. If they sold them at a yard sale they'd be lucky to get that much. And selling the bunch to someone is easier than listing them on ebay- if this person was the sort to sell stuff on ebay, they would already have looked up some of them, most likely.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you- hopefully it will be a box of awesome!
