Takaras are real MLP to me. Dream Beauties are real MLPs I know, but I never felt like they were the same.

Anything sold under the My Little Pony brand by Hasbro would be 'real' My Little Pony.

Of course we don't have to buy it all or want it but it doesn't make it any less of a MLP.

So yes, any pony being sold by hasbro as a My Little Pony IS a My Little Pony.

By that reasoning Takaras and lots of Nirvanas would be fakies, since they were not sold by Hasbro.

To answer the OP: if I say Mlp I don't mean Dream Beauties and such, but I realize they are just as much part of the Mlp line, yes.

I think she just meant licensed by Hasbro-  and I'd agree.  Anything licensed by Hasbro to be sold as a "My Little Pony" is a My Little Pony- technically.

Takara, Estrela, etc. all presumably made "My Little Ponies" under the Hasbro license.  I think that a number of countries had big fat import taxes on toys, which is why they had to be made by the in-country toy manufacturer (ie Estrela, Lily Ledy)

Uh, yes? At least, certainly for the Dream Beauties. Sure, they look different, but so do the SHSs, all the G2 and G4s (or, depending on your point of view, every generation looks "different"). Hasbro produced them, so yeah, they're "real." I don't know anything about Nirvana production, but yeah, even if they're licensed and not directly produced by Hasbro-owned factories, they're still official MLP merchandise, so yeah, they're "real." It makes no sense to me to say they're not.

Unless you know those companies were making ponies without permission from Hasbro. More educated people know better than I do If they were actually making fakies instead of licensed products.

To clarify: I consider MLP made by or for or under the license of Hasbro to be real mlp. If hasbro licensed a company to make MLP that would still qualify as MLP.

Well, Unless we want to consider every plastic pony on the planet is a real My Little Pony.

I suppose if someone will say Dream Beauties are not real My little Pony, then another person can say any fakie is a real My Little Pony.

And I would also like to point out that this exact question about Dream Beauties has popped up a lot lately...I know I've read at least 3 or 4 threads asking the same question.

Yupt I see anything produced by hasbro pony wise my little pony, including licensed items. I like dream beauties even though they remind me of barbie horses.

Yes I agree with this - but I would add that "Any pony being sold by Hasbro or under license from Hasbro as a My Little Pony IS a My Little Pony" :)

However, for my collecting I dont consider Dream Beauties as part of "my collecting line" but underneath I know I have to accept that they technically are My Little Ponies, the same as the Takara releases.

Here is a test for everyone:

How to find out if you really consider Dream Beauties real MLP.

If you find one you will advertise it and sell it as a fakie for a fakie price of...lets say $2.00

Nah. Related, yeah. Like My Pretty Pony, it's not quite a My Little Pony since it isn't branded as such, but more like a "cousin." Or in the case of My Pretty Pony, a grandma!

 That sounds quite fair!

I consider Dream Beauties and Takaras as MLPs but I may be biased--I quite like both lines. Takaras look like Pony Snoopy (seriously, look at them) and Dream Beauties are kinda Fashion Star Filly/She-Ra horse-ish. They're quite elegant in that sense. At the end of the day they're all Hasbro ponies.
