California Sales Tax is now 9 to 9.5%

With the red card saving 5% everyday, thinking this might help offset the tax increase.

Curious what other people think and if they got the store only or the Visa card.

Thanks.

I have the store only card. It really helps; sales tax in my area is 10%! There are no fees and so far I've had no problems with the card, so I can't really think of any cons. I think you get free shipping when you order online with it, too. I have not done that yet so I'm not 100% sure. The thing Target gets out of the deal is being able to track your purchases, so if you care about that it's a little off putting. I do sort of feel like Big Brother is watching me whenever I swipe that card, but it's the same sort of thing with drugstore savings cards and such, and that 5% is worth it, I guess.

My mom has that card :) She seems to like it. I like the free shipping online xD I've been contemplating getting one myself. I just have the Amazon.com Visa Rewards card which I like because I get money back to spend on Amazon.com xD

10% !  I thought mine was high.  It does make the math easier when you get a 20% coupon  :).

Get the Target Debit Card. It's linked to your checking account and you are using money you have while saving 5% and getting free shipping on their website! I got it when I worked at Target so that 15% was great, but I still use it when I shop there for dolls and ponies. :) I love that I'm not racking up debt with it because I'm using money that I actually have.

Tax went down by a quarter of a percent in my area so we're at 9% instead of 9.25%! :D

I'm all for saving money so I vote go for it. I'm glad Montana has no sales tax. It alwaysthrows me off when I travel. I always forget other states have it.

THIS.
I work at Target, and the one thing I wish I could tell people is IT'S LIKE FREE MONEY. If you have an existing checking account, you link the Target Debit Card to it. So you're essentially getting 5% to use your checking account. I highly recommend the debit card.

Thanks for the advice, guess I will head off to Target this weekend and start saving some money on my ponies  :).  I usually only spend like 40 bucks every few weeks so I never bothered getting a card, but with me now buying ponies and Lego, it does seem worth it.

Don't have one. Last thing we need in our lives is more credit cards. I hope it works out for you. I know we tend to get "Club" or "Member" Cards in places we frequent to offset our sales tax. Most of those have 10% off and our taxes are 10%.

Target has the option for a debit card that is connected to your checking account so you don't have to get a credit card.
