My parents made me learn cello and the piano-  but it has been many many many years...

I wish I hadn't been so lazy about practicing :D

I played violin as a child from the age of 6. I stopped when my mom passed away. I just didn't have the heart to play anymore. I still have my violin though...

I play ukulele. It's the only instrument I've stuck with. I taught myself but it's super easy to learn. I play well enough to strum and sing other people's songs but can't do anything fancy.

I played violin as a child but hated practicing. I also played guitar and bass guitar (I'm left handed too but had left hands instruments) but got bored with those as well. The uke is the perfect size for me. :)

Disregarding my milk induced instrument, if I could learn to play one, I'd love to learn the violin. To me it's such a regal instrument......and I love listening to songs that include one. Maybe I should go hunt down some good violin music.....

Same here! I come from a very musical family, and my brother kind of preassured me into starting an instrument when I was in 4th grade. I chose violin, which I suppose I was okay at, but I just wasn't enjoying it as much as I should have. Eventually I decided to stop playing for awhile in 7th grade, as my 6th grade orchestra experience was not very good. I ended up having to "air-bow" during concerts because the music was difficult and I didn't like to practice!

Another clarinet player here!  :hiya: I used to play the piano, too, but I didn't like it that much so I switched to clarinet in 7th grade which was definitely a good decision. I like to play piano for fun sometimes but I never liked practicing and I always felt like I could only ever be a mediocre pianist even at my best. The clarinet felt much more like my cup of tea from the start. I don't take lessons anymore but I still play in a wind band once a week, so at least I can assure I don't get too rusty even if no actual improvement would take place. (I still feel I have improved some during the past few years, but of course it's much slower than if I would play daily and take lessons.) I like playing in a band better than playing solo anyway as I suffer from stage fright.

I can play the piano - I had lessons for seven years when I was younger.  I can pluck away at a few songs on the guitar - but I'd like to get better at it.

Did Violin for one school year, it was not my thing. I gave a guitar a try and was also not my thing. I played piano for many many years. I want to say for almost 12 years. I then stopped when I got a job and started driving. The piano thing has never come back yet. I do still have all my books if I wanted to give it a try again :)

I used to be able to play the guitar. I was getting decent and then I stopped after I met my boyfriend and he ended up being a lot better than me and it killed my confidence in guitar and I stopped after that.

I played saxophone for years!  I was in marching band in high school and jazz band in college...I was even the president! :P Just recently stopped because I haven't had the time or desire to pick it up again...maybe someday soon... :)
