Help me remember this book title?

Name that book!

A historical romance novel set to the pirate theme. I read this book in the early 90's and I cannot recall the name of it.

Here is the basic story. Girl in England gets kidnapped and shipped off as an indentured servant. I think it was a plot to remove her from her inheritance perhaps?

Pirate? attacks the ship she is on and steals her away along with another gal. She gets rescued, but the guy had meant to rescue the other girl, who is his fiancee.

She winds up working as a servant on his plantation because she can't prove she wasn't REALLY an indentured servant. Meanwhile, dude keeps looking for his fiancee.

The two fall for each other. Hook up. Fiancee comes back with the pirate, who has a place in polite society. They try to do bad things to the girl because she knows who they are, and knows that the fiancee willingly gave herself to the mean old pirate.

Story ends with the girls cousin finding her and ensuring propriety is maintained by forcing her and the plantation guy to wed. They wanted to do it anyway.

If it helps any, I think the fiancees name was Rosalind. or something like that. The name Devin or Devlin rings a bell for the guy, but I think that may be a popular romance book name.

The books cover seems like it may have had a ship tossing about in a stormy sea, with your typical rake ravishing a young lady.  I feel like the words "Tempest" or "Storm" apply to the title, but I can't be sure.

So. Any clue what book I'm talking about? I want to find it again.

Well, if I were naming it, it would be something like "Love's Tempest" or "Turning Tides," but I'm afraid all I can really do to be helpful is bump this up a little. Sorry, hun!

Never read it but it does sound interesting.

Ahhh this is bugging me. It sounds totally familiar. Reminds me of Deceived by Bertrice Small. But not quite the same story. I've read too many historical romance novels over the years.

Some of the other popular historical romance writers of the 80s-90s I can think of are Virginia Henley, Johanna Lindsey, Julie Garwood, Judith McNaught, Kathleen Woodwiss. Any of those authors ring a bell?

I read one that is similar to that which I really enjoyed.  It was called Love's Tender Fury'.  Sorry I can't help!

Close, but no Cigar! In my book, the journey is taking place from England to America.

Love's Tender Fury looks interesting, but again, not a match.

Ship of Dreams is also not the one.

Another detail that has come to mind.. The plantation in question produced indigo. The heroine at some point is forced to share a bedroom with the hero after trying to run away, I think.

Gah. This is bugging me so much!
