2012 SDCC Pony - another wave passed through Taobao? Or more first runs?

Yes, I am aware of 3 versions as Marigold says - 2 from Taobao and then the actual release.

Its so tough to say with Taobao - as all of a sudden a seller will turn up with loads of a random pony, like 30 Dewdrop Dazzles, who probably isn't going to turn up again soon...so where do they get them from? Just other unused, rejected stock or stock they have had sitting but simply not got around to listing? Plus as you know often the totals that a seller lists on Taobao are on the side of make believe. Its great you managed to get one but at the moment I ll assume a handful of stray SDCC 2012 ponies have been rounded up and are getting sold not that its a sign of another release.

I think given that they now appear to be gone again- that it was just a small pile of undiscovered pre-SDCC ponies...  There were 5 listed for a few days when I looked- but you are right- they may  have already been gone by then knowing Taobao. 


I have a feeling that the Toy manufacturing plants in China- rather than throwing away/destroying test runs/sample runs/engineering prototypes- they just sell them in big lots to whoever-   and those people turn around and sell them on Taobao.  It is also possible that the ponies come directly from the "trash"  (which factory workers probably pilfer regularly since the stuff looks mostly, perfectly good to them- and they know they can sell it)   I somehow doubt that raiding trashcans is illegal in China...
