Plastic bending skills anyone?
« on: May 24, 2012, 10:54:10 AM »
Sorry for the spam today, but I have another question ! :D

I have this fakie here:

And it can't stand on it's own because it's warped. Is there any way to bend the plastic? In this case, the plastic is a bit softer than the average pony, like... a G1 hair-do pony, I think, probably even softer. I really like this fakie, so I would like it to stand on it's own :(

Thanks !! :D

I would suggest soaking her warped areas in very hot water until they're soft again, then place a hairbrush or something between her legs and secure the pose with rubber bands.  Then maybe the freezer to help her stay like that.  I would leave her (not in the freezer per say) for at least a week with the hairbrush on.

I have a SS Bangles that had the warped legs thing going on - I stuck a book between her legs for a few months and they straightened right out.

i have used the hot water and pen/painbrush/hairbrush/whatever is the right size and shape menthod and it works! you need to leave her a few days/week to let the plastic "reset" so to speak :)

Yep, I would suggest the same thing Cloudie and PKW mentioned.  I have done it before also with much success.

I've actually done it before without the hot water, but it does take longer and doesn't always "stick".

Yup I ll forth the warm water/foam roller/freezer/setting technique! I have a Love Melody and numerous ponies in this pose who were given the ability to stand again due to this!
