The sticky one has less layers of paint on it then the deer, could that be it?

Have you used this varnish on other ponies before? Some sealers react badly with pony vinyl. It's possible that the number of paint layers on your reindeer custom prevented the varnish from interacting with the vinyl.I've heard a few people claim that a couple of coats of matte Mod Podge will unsticky and sticky custom. Just be sure to water it down if you go that route. Mod Podge applied straight from the bottle has a higher risk of going soft or sticky in a humid enviroment.
