Would anyone be interested in Pony Episode of the day?

Thank you Taffeta and LadyMoondancer. I do value everyone's opinion that has posted here. It's not my intention to overwhelm the Corral with threads. I thought it might be fun to have dicussion threads about the different episodes where we could discuss plot, what we liked and disliked about the episode and post screen caps from the episodes. I understand if this idea doesn't appeal to everyone or isn't practical with the space limits of the Arena.

I don't disagree with what LM said about the other threads either. My point is the Corral shouldn't be over-dominated by any theme, because if it is, it shuts out other people's preferences and favourites. That isn't solved by imposing another frequent thread on a forum with other frequent threads.

I like to discuss the toys, but to me discussing the toys is something a bit different from the threads we already have. Not that there is anything bad about the question threads or discussions here now, just that several regular threads on a theme running at any one time potentially clogs up the forum as a whole.

And FIM has a whole forum where this is already happening episode by episode over the seasons, so the point of rehashing those threads here is the same really as repetitive discussions regarding favourite toys and childhood toys and so on. They are nice but they happen over and over again and so I can understand why LM is frustrated with those.

And there are only so many episodes in G1 and G3 before you have to begin all over again.

I also grew up largely without the G1 animation and genuinely it's not that important to me or my concept of MLP. So maybe I don;t understand it from the same perspective as other people. I feel like the animation isn't the definition of the ponies, and that we already discuss it way more than we do the backcard stories, for example, even though the animation caters for such a limited number of ponies. But then, what's next? If we have an episode a week, are we then going to end up with a backcard story a week? And then maybe a pony set per week? I hope you see where I'm going with this.

I don't mind discussing the episodes in the Corral at all. If I don't want to read a thread, I don't have to. I guess my point is that I'm not a fan of another "of the week" thread coming up.I'd rather the Corral was just discussion threads and not dominated by "Of the week" threads and price checks...if that makes sense?

I understand what you're saying Taffeta. The reason I didn't just start an episode  of the day/week thread is that I wanted to hear others opinions on the subject and it's good to hear both sides. I can see your point that too many of a single type of thread might end up dominating  the forum. It's probably better to just start a dicussion about an episode instead of trying to make it a weekly or even a monthly thing.

It would actually be nice if we had a "Vintage Media" child forum where people who want to discuss the shows, comics, and books not related to FiM could go.  I think it would be better than clogging the main forum with even more frequently generated threads.

A vintage MLP media board would leave the Corral even more as the "pretty much only about the toys and nothing else" board.  :/   What's the point of having a general discussion board if everything other than the toys get shunted off to a subboard?    I get the G4 cartoon having it's own board because it generates sooo much discussion, but IMO there is not enough discussion about G1 cartoons / media to take it off the main board.   

I think most people had an experience similar to Taffeta . . . The G1 cartoon did not have a big impact on the childhood / collecting habits.  So topics on it are rare.  One thread on an episode per week (or even every two weeks or once a month) doesn't seem overwhelming to me.

I also agree that we don't really need a sub-board for the G1 (or G3!) cartoons, they don't really get talked about *that* much so I think it'd be unnecessary. IMO a sub-board should only be made if the subject in question is being discussed SO MUCH that it's crowding out everything else, if that makes sense. That's not happening with any of the pre-G4 cartoons, so I don't think it's necessary, personally.
