Sales quiet?
« on: August 02, 2015, 02:01:53 PM »
Is anybody else finding sales a bit quiet at the moment?

I had some eBay auctions end this weekend without bids - and I know the items were priced low so really surprised they didn't sell. Planning to review pictures and descriptions and relist at some point, but wondering whether August is just a bad time of year?

There is always a summer slump but this year's has been particularly bad for both sellers and buyers, so  I hear...

Yeah, summer. As a writer, my sales have been suffering from the summer slump as well and it's frustrating. What I'm doing with my time is getting ponies ready, and taking pics to save for fall. Christmas time is best for sales :)

I have watched the selling/ Ebay market for 12 years now and we have a pick up in sales starting October through January 1st or so and then it picks up again from Valentines till May.
I figure it's because students have gotten over buying books and paying for classes and need a pick me up just before Halloween, then the Holiday season is in full swing, and the last one (Valentines- May) is tax refund season which seems to be the season of the highest bids.

Its always slow at this time of year so don't worry about it. Your sales will pick up again in the Autumn/Winter seaons. Summer is quiet- people are broke, people are on holiday, there aren't any major holidays they feel the need to buy gifts for etc etc. I am still selling but its like 1 item a week. I kinda use it as a break to prep for the increase in sale later (ie- hours of listing, hours of packing ..loads of trips to the PO . I view this time as my holiday :P )

same for me ;-)
I could do with the moneys and the things gone now - but you cant change it.
Even sales on my favourite FB sales group are stagnant if not non-existant.

Same for me too. :)

Could do with the space and the money but ah well. Can't change it. And besides, it'll pick up later on. :)

I always blamed the summer slump on the fact people felt more like they might find the items in ebay at second hand sales, and a lot more people listing what they found at second hand sales.

A few questions about what you're selling

- Are other auctions for similar items in similar condition selling? (the market could be flooded with the same item)
- Are they selling for more or less?
- Do you Ship internationally?
- Have you listed your items in as many places as possible?  (Ebay, craigslist, facebook groups, here...)

If other other sellers are selling their items, that are similar to yours, what are they doing differently?

If other sellers aren't selling the same items as yours, perhaps there is no demand at the moment.
