Warning! Don't use nail polish remover on...
« on: July 10, 2014, 07:32:02 PM »
...Watercolor Baby Sea Pony hair!

I know this sounds stupid and obvious, but I did it (slaps hand. Bad restorer!) She had something awful in her hair, and I tested a little and it seemed okay, then all of a sudden it jammed up and her hair turned STIFF and brittle and I got so scared I ruined my new pony!!!

Praise Celestia, a soak in conditioner restored the softness back, but it was touch and go for a while. Please don't make this mistake or you could have a heart attack like I did!

It's late, so I'll post an "after" picture tomorrow, but I just needed to get this warning out there...

Added:
Here she is- Baby Seawinkle. You can still see a gradient of pink from the end of her mane, which was something sticky and hard. It's fairly soft again, and the gradient actually doesn't take away from her looks. We really dodged a bullet on this one!

After a night dry her hair is still soft! I'll never use nail polish remover (not even non-acetone!) on hair again!

Thanks for the warning! I wonder if a little bit of toothpaste might help with that? ^_^
Thank you Lindsay1988 for this beautiful Sig!  :lovey:

Toothpaste would be a safer option. I was even using goo gone at first and it was working, but didn't seem strong enough. I've never had stuff stuck in the hair before!

Well done on getting her back to good shape again :)

I think sometimes we forget that some of the things we use during restoration can be rather aggressive chemicals. We have all made these kind of errors over the years...is waaaaay too easy to do.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
