Ebay now requires a credit card in addition to Paypal
« on: April 20, 2014, 02:29:05 PM »
I was relisting some ponies and other stuff and I get this message:

"You can not submit your listing due to the following problems
Attention
It looks like you don't have a reimbursement payment method on file with us. To complete your listing, please add a payment method. This payment method will be charged the amount due to eBay when we’ve refunded a buyer for cases brought under our Buyer Protection Policy."

I have never had to do this before and it wont allow me to continue unless I do this. The fine print says they can charge one time or recurring and I don't agree to that. Has anyone else had this happen?

OK, so a seller needs to have 2 methods of payment on file?  Then if a buyer is refunded ebay can pull either from your credit card or the paypal account?  What if your paypal is linked to your checking account and debit card?

I just had to deal with this via ebay.  ><  LMK if I can dig up the thread and link you to how I fixed the problem.  Can't recall off the top of my head.  I think I ended up actually calling them...  Hubby and I don't do credit cards so it wasn't even possible for me and I've been a member of ebay since '97!

*edit*  The thread was regarding something else, but yes, I just had this problem with them as well.  There is a way to set up your paypal as your "reimbursement method".  Let me see if I can remember...

-go to "my ebay"
-go to "account"
-on left go to "personal information"
-under "financial information" there is a "reimbursement payment method"
-click "edit" and link it to your paypal.

Hope that helps!

Cloud_Weaver is correct, you can add or change your reimbursement payment method by going to the Financial Information section of the  Personal Information page in My eBay.

I personally have never had it happen, as mine has been set up this way for a very long time. The whole thing really stems from their updated "Buyer Protection Policy." It's to ensure in the event that if a case is opened up against you and eBay refunds the buyer, that Ebay will get their money back one way or another.
