Hello everypony!
« on: February 17, 2014, 06:33:18 AM »
I have loved MLP since I was a little girl.  Back in the day I had dozens of ponies.  My dad even built me stables along the base board, under my window seat, in my bed room where they all lived.  Sadly, I grew up and left my ponies behind.

A few years ago I became interested again when a friend showed me FiM.  It brought back so many fond memories.  When I had my 30th birthday a couple years ago, (much against my will :p)  I made it pony themed. I find it is a great way to stay young at heart, as well as something I can bond with my niece and god daughters over.  We especially enjoy styling our ponies together.

My current collection is all Gen 4.  I have quite a collection of the minifigs, but I gave up on the blind bags after the first couple releases.  They are too expensive compared to real brushies, IMO.  I have continued to get all the packaged sets though.

I have all of the first four waves of the Playful ponies, with the exception of Lily Blossom and Honeybuzz, both of whom I covet.  I also have all of the Traveling and Wedding Singles.  I love recolors, even the ones that never make it into the cartoon, and I hope they start making more soon.  I think Sunny Rays is probably my favorite color combo, which is why I really hope to find a Lilly Blossom.  They would be such happy pegasi together!  Since Princess fever took over I have been slowly gathering the double boxed set of all the princesses.  I haven't found a Twilight or Cadence yet.

I am currently working on making shadow boxes for my collection to display and protect them.  They will go in my office / big kid playroom.  Once I have those done, I would like to start collecting the G1 favorites I remember from my childhood.  My personal faves were Posey, Glory, Galaxy and Forget-me-not.

I also recently got myself a Fairfield dollhouse kit, by Greenleaf which I am slowly gathering materials for.  It is an ambitious project and I am such a perfectionist I fear it won't be finished before I am forty.

Excited to get to see the full site and meet other pony aficionados!

Welcome to the Arena

I had a pony themed 30th birthday too. It's amazing how well people take to the idea isn't it?  I hope you enjoy the Arena and meeting all of the other pony fans here :frolic:

Thanks for the warm welcomes!

I will definitely share my displays once I am done, Diamond.  I got a new scroll saw for Christmas that I am itching to use and the weather is almost warm enough for extended time in my shop.  Do any of you old timers know of any gallery threads for displays?  I would love to see what others have done.

I am also still thinking of how to display my blind bags.  They are currently living in a sparkly pink Christmas tree in my studio, but it is crazy dusty in there and it is less than ideal.  It is super cute though, I should grab a pic of that to show.   I found this idea for a Lego Minifig display on Pinterest, I think it could be adapted for blind bags.  My husband loves Legos so they will also be featured in our Big Kid Playroom.

High five for pony birthdays, kiwimlp!  All my guests loved the idea.  It was sort of a naive, girly spin on the over-the-hill thing.  Not that 30 is old, mind you.  It was just was more adult than I was ready to be at the time.  And the bakers sure had fun making my Rarity cake.  We got a few strange looks at the sushi restaurant where we had dinner, but mostly smiles.  If ponies don't make you smile, you are not my kind of people anyway.
:silly:
Then we went barhopping and had pony parades on the bartops of several local watering holes.   :drunk:

People were amazingly enthusiastic about petting the ponies and sharing their nostalgia.  Ponies are a great icebreaker!

Tonight I am styling a Rarity for a friend's daughter who just moved back to the area.  When she left she was a smart and precocious 3 year old who was going to "fix Africa with sticky tape." She came back a shy and serious girl of 7.  The first few times I saw her recently she mostly stared at me and was too shy to answer.  Recently, I went with her and her mom to see Frozen and she spied the ponies on my phone.  Suddenly she had lots to say!  I hope she likes it.

Welcome to the Arena!

I totally agree on the price point of blind bags; its peculiar how expensive they are in comparison to the brushable ponies. But the mini fig packs are super cute :)

I hope you have a good time around the boards.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
