Quality Control - Tails
« on: January 12, 2014, 03:23:19 AM »
Has anybody else noticed how Hasbro seemed to forget about finishing tails off on G2s? I have a large number where the tail isn't evenly finished; like when the tail was pulled through one side ended up longer than the other (or a few straggly hairs) but they didn't bother to chop it to make it even.

I would guess its just poor manufacture - I find G1s to this day with hair uneven in the washers but it does seem to have got worse through the generations, right to the point of G4 having next to no tail. :( If I am honest I havent noticed it worse in G2 than G3, maybe about the same, but it could just be I have had more G3 over the years than G2.

Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

I've noticed it about equally in all the gens, though G4 is the worst offender. Their QC is attrocious, though i find the older (2010-11) FS ponies to be of higher quality than the brushables.

G4 is definitely the worst for this! I've only had one G4 pony with a really lousy tail, but it bothers me so much I'm considering rehairing her just because of that

Actually I always thought it was playwear from brushing/combing it too often  None of my childhood ponies has this issue but my cousin's yes! And she always took good care of her ponies - exactly by combing their hair - and then the tail would get thinner and thinner or more uneven... and few of her ponies ended up tail-less and she used ribbons as replacements.

But I was always angered by the poor quality control of the manes - they have the same problem with uneven strands, even MOC or freshly unpacked ponies have that issue :/
