Anyone know anything about wintec saddles?
« on: January 06, 2014, 04:14:06 AM »
I was wondering if anyone on here had much experience with different wintec models? In particular the wintec pro dressage vs the old wintec sport? It would be really helpful if I could get some feedback! I plan to buy 1 of the two. No one I know rides in synth saddles.

I have a wintec VSD saddle for my Highland. ..I love it :)
I can ride in the rain without fear of mould etc they change to fit the horse when they muscle up or slim down. Are lightweight and that's always a good thing for a horses back ;)
No oiling or soaping either i wash mine with a bucket of dish soapy water occasionally.
I know they are not traditional in the same way leather tack is but i believe the pros out weigh the cons :)
Hello, [you] i'm looking for so softs in need  of a little TLC :)

I've heard glowing reviews of their endurance saddles, but don't know about the dressage ones, sorry.  I'd think the quality would probably be similar though.

Hopefully others will have more information!

I don't know about the specific saddles you're looking at, but I used to ride in a wintec, and it was comfortable, convenient, and low maintenance!  Plus, as mentioned before, they are often adjustable, which is helpful if you need it for multiple horses or if your horse tends to gain or lose weight.

I think it depends what you are wanting it for in the long run.  for competitions I think you would be better with a leather one it is looked on as more pc for the sport but if it is just for pleasure rides then either as long as it fits the horse correctly I guess it does not matter.

Personally I hate the things every single time I have ridden in one I end up with a sore bottom . But they were all older versions and I have heared that they have improved tremendously.

though I do agree they take less looking after than the leather ones but I have known some with material seats to smell abit after being in storage or around damp for a while (not sure if they were wintec or not though)

Both my boys turn out in leather saddles  we had some problems with the older of my two (bronko situation) so it was specially made to fit him perfectly.

you could always see if you can get a trial saddle and see it you like it sort of a try before you buy type thing.

I had one a few years back and it didn't wear very well at all.  A good leather one is 1000 x better imo.  The wintec was however nice and light for trail riding (which is done on the horse's fitness and heart rate).
