I had a random idea last evening: How about a thread where everyone posts pictures of ponies with complimentary hair and body colors?

In case you're not familiar with the term, complimentary colors are two colors on the opposite sides of the color wheel, such as purple and yellow, orange and blue, or red and and green. (Here's a chart on Wikipedia that shows what I'm talking about.)

I can think of a few G1 ponies with complimentary colors, such as Lemon Drop (purple mane, yellow body) and MLPT Bright Eyes (orange mane, blue body), and I'm sure there are lots more in the generations that followed G1. I don't have any ponies like this in my collection (yet...), but I'm sure a lot of other people here do.

So...post 'em if you've got 'em!

(Oh, and since pink is a non-spectrum color [it's technically not part of the visible spectrum, as bizarre as that may sound] let's just say that in this particular case, its opposite can be either green or yellow, depending on how reddish or purplish a particular shade might be.

Yellow and Purple - G1 Princess Starburst, Boysenberry Pie, Baby Alphabet, Teenie Tiny Bootsie and Tootsie, Edgar, Merriweather, Newborn Speckles and Bunkie, TipToes, Tap Dancer, Yum Yum. UK Baby Explorer, Baby Jewel, Lemondrop and Baby Lemondrop, Baby Nightcap, Baby Splashes, Toe Dancer, Bon Bon, Music Time, Napper, and Twinkle Dancer.

I'm partial to Waterfire - blue/orange or purple/orange are lovely combinations, IMO. ^^

Kind of a bummer there's only a few things in the natural world with those colors.

I love the purple/yellow combo - in my street every spring the trees flower before gaining their leaves, and they alternate purple and yellow up and down the hills. It's really beautiful. It's the exact colour of Merriweather, part of the reason I'm so madly in love with mine!

I remember seeing a photo of her back when she was first introduced. Years later when I was rediscovering the fandom, I couldn't remember her name, but I definitely remembered that striking combination.

Darn. For a second I saw "complImentary ponies," and my first thought was, "free MLP? Where?"

Wasn't Mimic green and pink? I think that counts (pink as light red)

Boysenberry Pie is a great example, she's such a great purple. Bright Eyes from the seven Tales? Shady is a strange example and she personally tops my list of uglies.

Are other gens besides G1 welcome? G2's have a lot of such color schemes - just to mention the most known Miss Painter or Cooper Glow

Then there is Prince Firefly and Princess Crystal with their streaks of yellow beside their purple bodies and of course some less known G2's like Lady Waterfall (deep dark blue-yellow) or Satin Splash (purple-yellow), Baby Flitter (blue-orange) and that's just from the top of my head

When I'll get home from uni, I'll try to find time to take pics.

Oh yes -- I only saw her as she appeared in the MLP movie and TV show when I was a kid, and I guess I thought her color scheme was a bit "bleh"...then, when I finally saw a photo of her toy form as an adult, I think my initial reaction was "Gaaah! My eyes!"

Eeek, sorry to get back to you so late

I'm having major camera problems that I'm trying to overcome and I'm studying for exams so my time is limited. Anyway here are the pictures I managed to find of my ponies which fill the criteria:

Also the G2 changing mane and tail Golden Light has a pair of swappable hair which is purple and she is wholly yellow. And G4 Sunny Rays is also in that color-scheme but I don't have pics of those
