Back in the day I just wanted as many G2 ponies I could find. I was a teenager back then and truly had no idea how many G2's were produced. When i stumbled upon Arena and learned about people who had almost complete G2 collections I set that as my goal :D Now, with having all of them without one rare variant I'm slowly building up my merch collection and accessories. I like to buy G2 lots too - sometimes to find an upgrade, a bait for a custom or to pass them on to other collectors. My current goal is to spread the G2 love

In the meantime my other collecting goals changed greatly: from wanting to own most of the Euro G1 and near all US ones, I settled on just few ponies. I wanted to have a Buttons army and Wind Whistler one (my fav G1 from the TV series), but now my only army is reserved for Confetti, which became my favorite pony of all time :lovely: I once wanted all G1 baby unicorns, now I want to have a rainbow of babies.

The only G1 goal that hadn't changed is owning all Tropical ponies. And I almost reached that goal too!

It's harder with G3's - when I started out I didn't like them. They replaced my beloved G2's, there were too many of them at first then the Core 7 made me furious and then the G3,5 kind of won me over. I have few that I adore and I'm building Starsong's and Rainbow Dash armies, which are currently my focus. Mom Dash was my latest addition to them.

When it comes to G4's, I'm overwhelmed with how many of them had been released. It's hard to keep up, especially with their prices in my country which are ridiculous, so I'm still lost on which ones I truly want - I'm still figuring it out.

I think you should focus on whatever your heart tells you to collect now :) It might change in time or you might discover that you want different ponies or more of them (or less of them ;) ) - as long as you have fun pony hunting I see no harm with having different goals to achieve.

I'm a newbie! I started collecting just over a year ago I think. At first, I just starting buying G4's, but then I discovered G1's, and fell in love completely! Now, I focus on buying ponies which may be classed as baits, and restoring them to their former glory :) it means my herd is full of rehairs, and ponies with touch ups, but I love the satisfaction :)

Right now, I've decided to find someone to buy the G1 collectors guide from, and work through page by page!

I have no focus what-so-ever! I've been collecting ponies since my first birthday. My mother got me started. Of course I could not buy ponies myself then, they were given to me for birthdays and holidays. I was about 6 or 7 when I started flea marketing by myself. My rents had a business set up at flea markets every weekend so I would walk around buying ponies a quarter here, fifty cents there, sometimes free. I still do this but not as often and I do not see ponies as much as I use to.
