Ponies at a thrift store?!? Here? Couldn't be more thrilled lol
« on: October 20, 2013, 12:32:29 AM »
So hubby and I went out shopping yesterday and decided to run into value village and see if they had any ponies, I walked assuming the worst simply because we've never had any luck finding anything but fakies

I get to the toy section and I find not 1, not 2 but 5 bags with MLP in them :cheer:
So I narrowed it down to the 2 bags that had the most genuine MLP in them and grabbed those. Here's what we ended up with :)

Now these were purchased with the idea that these would be used as baits, however there is 1 pony in the bunch that I would love to save and add to our collection:

Bumblesweet, she's perfect except for a red/pink pen mark near her display symbol. Does anyone know what I can use to remove it or fade it considerably? We already gave her the spa treatment and tried acetone and magic eraser, but nothing has worked :(

We would up having to throw away Cotton Candy? I think that's her name, she was full of black mold, really thick and disgusting >_< It was super gross!

That was a nice selection of ponies you found. If you still have access to CottonCandy, you could try boiling her.  That usually removes mould and other nasties :)

Congrats!  It's always so nice to find them at a thrift store  :)

I would definitely boil anything with mold, possibly also with some Oxyclean in the water.  Then even if the stains don't come out, she should be safe to use as a custom.

Great pony hunt!  Sounds like Bumblesweet could use some sunfading.

Thank you, I've never done sunfading before, so I will look into that :)

I agree on sunfading and boiling the rougher looking ponies, bleach to help kill that toxic black mold.

Awesome thrift store finds! I always get excited when I come across any ponies here too! They just don't seem to be out and about as much these days!
