Best time to sell on ebay?
« on: October 13, 2013, 01:06:47 PM »
I have a couple of questions for seasoned ebayers:

What is the best time to sell on ebay?  Right before Christmas?  Right after? Would you say that summer is a slow time (this is what I've heard)?

Also, are there certain days of the week that are better to end an auction on?  I've heard that Sunday is not a good day to end an auction on ... do you guys agree?

Thanks :)

Have your listings end on a Sunday evening.  I've always found I get more bids.  People are home and bored!

Times of the year.  Hmmm...personally, I've noticed that when school starts I get more bids (like end of August/September).  I don't know if it's because college kids are buying ponies for the dorms or parents are rewarding themselves for having kids out of the house, lol.

Summer is hit-or-miss.  Not exactly slow, but it's flea market season.  Toy hunters would rather scour the sales than eBay.

Before Christmas...and after Christmas are good times.  People buying gifts & people spending their Christmas money!

edit  I don't know about anyone else, but lately sales have been slow for me...

Seeing as how the federal government in the US is in almost complete shutdown (I think it was 800,000 people at last count?) people are focusing on needs vs. wants right now.  They don't need stuff on ebay, they need food, electricity, running water, etc.  This is creating a ripple affect across the country, both in small companies and big ones. Ones that depend on "frivolous purchases", like Ebay, are going to get hit the worst.  I'm really hoping things get back to normal soon, or we're going to be nosediving into another recession.

That said, I'm thinking before and after Christmas will be the best time to sell stuff right now. Unless you have holiday-specific things to sell, like Easter, Halloween, etc. :)
darcerin on the TP, arinaketchum on ebay, Salvia on PI

In the fall when kids go back to school and right before Christmas seem to be a good time. :)  I have not had a lot of luck with my stuff. I had top rated seller discounts and then it all went away the next month. I had listed over 40 things and could not sell one thing :(

Summer is usually a little more quiet , but anytime between Sept and Jan is good ;)  October, November, December and early January are usually the best times to sell  :awake: people start xmas shopping early, then after xmas people usually have gift monies to spend :relaxed:  having your auction end on a sunday is a good idea too!
