De-Tinseling - Should I or Shouldn't I?
« on: August 26, 2013, 10:35:21 AM »
Oh, woe is me!

I am facing the decision of whether or not I should de-tinsel a couple of my G4's!

I have a Crystal Empire Fluttershy with -perfect- tinsel...it's just that I don't like it!  I know she's mine so I can do whatever I want.  I know she's common, but non-tinsel versions of her are also readily available.

Then, there's Ploomette.  Should I do it?  Do you think it will completely mess up her value in the future? (think 10+ years from now).

Ugh, I hate being so indecisive!

I think it would be fine to detinsel both of those :) or you could trade Fluttershy for one with no tinsel?

It's not as if they're rare, and it's your pony! If you don't want to buy one with no tinsel, I don't see anything particularly wrong with it.

If you aren't going to enjoy your Fluttershy the way she is, go for it. The only problem with de-tinseling is that her hair might end up a little flat and thinned since to make room for the tinsel, they had to sacrifice some hair. You could also try partially de-tinselling, so it's not as abundant and easier to style, but still there to give a little sparkle in her hair.

Ploomette is questionable, I foresee that would make her lose value since she isn't mint. Though still, do you have her to make money later, or to enjoy her now? That should help with what root (pun :P) you take (maybe partial de-tinselling would be a good idea here too).

I'd de-tinsel :) I gave up and bought CE Fluttershy today as she's the only mane 6 I'm missing but I agree the tinsel looks a bit...meh. It might have been prettier if they had picked a lighter shade of pink....Most other collectors I know dislike the tinsel so I doubt it will affect her value much.
Idly searching for: loose, good condition G4 Blossomforth, Starbeam Twinkle, Plumsweet. TTM Celestia doll's wings Within UK or EU only, please.
Will also take in Pretty Pony Club (UK magazine) fakies.

I would de-tinsel both of them, truthfully. If it would make you enjoy your pony, why not? She's yours, and your enjoyment is what matters most -- who cares what other people think?

Thanks, guys!

I plucked one strand of tinsel from Fluttershy and lost my nerve XD

I am lame to the Nth degree about this!  Hahaha, I think I'll do it later tonight...after some wine or something ;)

As you say - your ponies to do as you wish with of course :) And I think if it will make you happier if she does not have tinsel then detinseling her is the best idea :)

Or your other option of course is that she is a pony which has been released and will again be released without tinsel. So perhaps there is not the need to change her original condition - perhaps you could trade her for a non tinsel version?
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
