Can't say I've ever felt that way about anything in my house (especially not my ponies, as I tend to get wonderful friendly vibes from them), but it's happened once or twice at my mom's place. She has this...mirror. I disliked it from the moment she brought it home, and for a long time I was afraid to look at my reflection in it. Everything, to me, has an essence—a personality.

Ugh, that's how I used to feel in the upstairs of my parents old house... a lot... for most of my childhood... I used to burn black candles and that seemed to help the negativity for me...

When my parents rebuilt, the place where the house WAS (they even dug out the basement) and the pit where the old house was burned, my mom burned sage.  Their new house (though it was built after I moved out) has always felt more like home than the old one.

I have opposite reactions to items, generally.  Items that fall into my hands usually do so for good reason.  I'm a restorer of old dolls, and I get some real basket cases.  I just finished up a doll from the late 1930's.  Someone had gotten nail polish all over her, her crotch was literally busted out.  Someone gave her a very bad make up job that required me to strip a lot of her facial paint off, the back of her head was busted out, and she was missing fingers.  No more, except for the fingers, as her arms are made of resin, and my composition materials won't stick, and I'm too scared to drill to root some pins for a scaffold to build new fingers.  This doll is extremely rare, and I'd rather experiment on a more common doll that has resin arms too, before drilling.  Literally, if five of these dolls get listed on ebay in a calender year, it's amazing.  Punzie has nothing on Sweetheart by Horsman.

Anyways, I believe in some Japanese mysticism when it comes to dolls.  Every doll has a spirit, and they're generally good spirits, but they can become injured.  Sometimes, these injured spirits have to be purified, and in Japan, piles and piles of broken dolls are burned in a funeral pyre.  I try my best to restore mine, however, and return them to their beauty.  I'm generally pretty successful.  ^^;;  I do have one very haunted doll, not so much haunted, but maybe just more. . .expressive than the rest, but not in a bad way.  Her expression literally changes.  Sometimes she looks sweet, other times she's mischievous or coy, and other days she just looks like she's deep in thought.  She's another rescue of mine, she needed to be repinned, get new hands, and have her hair restyled and fixed.

But no, I don't have any bad feelings from any of mine.  Actually, the opposite, it's cheesy, but it's kind of like having some extra friends or guardians, but also the intrigue of wondering what they've seen, or who their former owners were, or sadness, because they were so badly beat up, and giving them a second life.  I'm weird, I know, but I like fixing old things and making them pretty again.  :P

I'm not gonna lie - that is way too cool!  I can't do antique dolls, though.  Too many of them have glass eyes and... I just can't....

I'm a big fan of trust your gut.  There have been items that completely wigged me out for no reason.  I don't want to have them haunting my shelves ever for any length of time.  It's just not worth my piece of mind.  In some ways, I'd rather see them destroyed so no one else has to deal with them.  But then I don't know if it's just the item and me clash, or there is actually something freaky about it inherently.

I used to do purification with prayer and rose water.  I know as said above sage is good for it in some other faiths.

Almost all of mine have glass eyes, so you'd be in real trouble in my house.  Most of my Japanese dolls have glass eyes too, being gofun and all.  I find them endearing, but then I was raised with dolls in the house, and taught by my mother to fix them, so it's natural to me and unbothersome.  Though, German dolls, or some of them can be a bit much.  I find the later American composition dolls not to be so bad.  That bright blue with the dilated black iris can be a little too contrasty on German dolls, so I do actually usually swap out the rockers ( which is easy with German dolls, not so much later American dolls ) with a pair of brown eyes, which aren't so intimidating.

Though, my favorite series of dolls is Sweetheart by Horsman.  Very rare, but at the right angle, she can be a right creeper too.  I did some film photography segment ( miss it, will eventually get back to it ) with a critique at the university, and did a segment on antique dolls with high contrasted film and pretty much killed the whole class.  On purpose.  My teacher loved it, however.

When I was very little we had this clown puzzle we got from a yard sale that I'm pretty sure had some sort of evil spirit/demon attached to it. I was never scared of clowns when I was little so it wasn't that. My sister and I both felt very negative vibes from it and it scared the heck out of us. I guess we sold it at a yard sale but I was so glad to be rid of it

I had VERY strong bad vibes about a guy my sister was dating about 11 or 12 years ago. I had no idea why. I just didn't want to be around him, didn't want to be in the same room with him, didn't want to look at him. I couldn't figure it out, he never did anything to cause me to feel that way. Still, something about him just felt evil. He raped my sister about a week after they started dating :( Now I listen to those gut feelings and things just not feeling right.

I won't let anything in my house that I feel has been around anything demonic or I get a negative vibe from. Don't want any demonic visitors

I don't believe in such, but it is uncanny that every time I put in this one particular Smashing Pumpkins CD in my car, I'd get pulled over or lock my keys in my car, etc.  Too coincidental.

I think I've had something similar happen some years ago.

My grandmother had this old Buddah statue (that my uncle stole from someone back in college) stored away in her house.  Well, some years ago before my grandmother died, he thought it would be a good idea to dig it up and display it.  He just HAD to display it in the bedroom that I always claimed and it didn't help that he put it on the dresser so that it faced the bed.  I just got this nasty feeling and freaked out, refusing to sleep in that room until the statue was put away.  I don't know what was up with that thing, I don't think I ever will, but I've never been so freaked out by a statue before.  I have no issues with objects from other religions as I had a little gold Buddah statue of my own when I was younger, there was just something about that one...

Now I want to know everyone's stories...  :tellme: Like why LadyShia's parents did that to their old house...

I think it's really extra creepy when something is giving you a bad vibe that shouldn't be. Like I can totally understand someone getting creeped out by an antique clown mask or something. But when it's something normalish that's a bad sign.

I refuse to go near an Oija board. Never had any experience with them, and maybe it's just the 'Hollywood' influence but I just think that's an incredibly bad idea.

Sorry, can't give you any advice. I think burning sage etc... couldn't hurt and I think there's something to be said for the power of belief. Not always, sometimes other things are more powerful. It's very smart of you to seek advice and help. I am also super glad that we live in an age and place where we can find help online. Can you imagine dealing with this in like the 50's?

I will say at the antiques mall every time I see some of those statues from the far east if I stare at them they seem to shy away from me.  I have put my hands on some of the large foo dog statues and I could swear that they seem to move under my hand like a happy dog.  I want to  also say after touching one it seemed to have a happy smile instead of a snarl.
