G1 DVD question
« on: May 26, 2013, 07:50:47 PM »
Question.  I am looking for G1 DVD info.  I own the first season on DVD, but did the ever release the second season (USA) on DVD?  I found an Italian season 2 on Amazon.  I know there are a few disks from season 2 (Flight to Cloud Castle, etc).  Also wondering if they released the My Little Pony Tales on DVD?  Thanks for any help!

The second season is on two different DVD's. Not a box set. You can get them for pretty cheap. Tales was never released on DVD in the US.

Yup!  The first season is a box set, the second season is two DVD's.  I can't remember the name of them at the moment, but one featured the princess ponies episode and the other featured the brothers in Sonombula (or something like that).

The first season is pretty pricey. I hope you can find it for a good price. I was lucky and got it right when it first came out.

I am still wishing, after years of hoping, that they would release Tales on DVD. I even got tempted to import the DVDs from Australia just so I own them. Do computers play DVDs from other regions? I know DVD players won't, but if my computer would then it would be worth the purchase.

I have all the Tales episodes copied to a dvd, but the picture and sound quality is awful. And I have no idea what I did with them.

The names of the DVD's are called: The Quest of the Princess Ponies and Other Stories and Flight to Cloud Castle and Other Stories. I got them both for about $10-$15 shipped on EBay.

Actually, a lot of DVD players can, but you might need to investigate your specific model to see if that's one that has a code to make it multiregion. Computers can, but it often depends on the software you use. Some will only let you switch regions a few times before it stops allowing it to do so and sticks at the last one.

Yes as LadyG says pretty much every DVD player now a days can be hacked to multi-region with just a couple of button combinations on a remote.

They can vary dramatically in price due to not being on current run but you will manage to find both DVDs of the second season with most DVD retailers including Amazon.
