When I was about 4 I took my SS Buttons with me everywhere. One summer we went to the beach (about 4hr away) and played in the sand all day, it was to cold for the water. I remember building and sand castle for Buttons and finding some flat peaces of drift wood for her to sand surf with. When we were leaving my dad set her up on the sea wall while he brushed the sand off me and my brother and loaded us back into the car. I went straight to sleep and woke up 2 hours latter to find my Buttons missing! I panicked and cried for an hour after that. When it was apparent that offers to just buy me a new one or telling me she would already be gone were not going to calm me down he turned around and drove all the way back. Lucky for me she was still sitting on the seawall waiting for me. She was my very first pony and am happy to say she is still with me~

My thoughts exactly, what a great story to share!  :iconclap:

It's great reading other people's happy pony tales (excuse the pun  :P)

At primary school we were allowed to take toys and games in on the last day of term and I remember taking some ponies when I was in Primary 6 (age 10).  During the afternoon lesson, I kept turning round and looking at them on the shelf behind me.  My teacher Mr. Barnet said I had to pay attention or he would send the ponies to the knackers yard!  Eek!   Needless to say I had my eyes to the front of the room for the rest of the day

In grade 6 we had Collections Day.  Kids were asked to bring in a sample of their collections to display on a table on the back of the class.  I was not getting as many ponies then (my parents were starting to get reluctant to buy me toys any more, and that was Pony year 6/7, when there were so many different kinds of ponies coming out, and I had only so much allowance, and FashionStar Fillies were competing for my attention) - but I still had over a hundred ponies and figured that would be the most impressive collection I could bring.  I brought in about 25 ponies, like one so-soft, one twinkle-eye, one flutter, etc.  My dad said I shouldn't take my favourites in case they got stolen, so I didn't.  But none did.

LOVED the story about Buttons on the sea wall.

I remember Just Staring at Dream Vally A Collectors guide to my little pony, I would just dream up stories about G1 My Little Ponies. But Never Got any G1s except for a Plush Blossom plush. I did really like her but she still wasn't the same. Mom wouldn't buy me a G1 because they where out of the package. And one mint was like $50 Or way More.
I was really into G1 but never got any until I was 21.
That sucks because I cant play with them anymore. Its difrent playing as a kid.

It is different playing as a kid, when your young for most of us the world is innocent and all the bad guys are far away. Then we begin to grow older and its like the bubble pops. Thats mostly why I like to collect, ponies are a constant reminder of a happier time, even though I had some bad experiences as a child I always had my ponies. Even now when I'm stressed or have a lot on my mind I'll sit for ages brushing the manes and tails of my ponies and re-arrange their positions.

Blimey, that sounds just like me!  :lookround:

Escaping to a happier, more innocent time was the main reason I started collecting MLP again.  They help chase the bad stuff away.  :)

I honestly can't remember NOT having any ponies.  I got my first one, a Remco fakie, for my 1st or 2nd birthday.  My parents have a home video of Mom opening it for me with my other birthday presents.

Mom and I used to sit around combing pony manes and tails when I was little.  Mom liked to braid Skydancer's* tail over and over, and I was seriously jealous b/c I wasn't coordinated enough to braid hair yet (I was maybe 3 or 4 at this point).

I also remember that when I played with ponies on my own, Bride Pony was always the "mommy," the fakie was the "daddy," and the other MLPs were their children, and they'd go on adventures as a family (sometimes with other toys, too).  Because of Whirly Twirl's cutie mark, I figured he could fly by turning his head back and forth really fast, so I'd have him do that to fly along with Skydancer.

I remember being really jealous of other kids, because I wasn't allowed to bring toys to school for recess, nor was I allowed to take any of my brushable toys outside.  I loved my ponies, and wanted to take them with me everywhere, especially Skydancer for when I felt shy.  I felt like she could understand that.

I was also so sad when I was a teen because Mom made me pick ONE toy to keep from my "doll drawer" and the rest would be thrown away--I wanted to keep my lone troll doll and all of my ponies.  I couldn't stand the thought of Skydancer's pretty wings being ruined, so I kept her.  I still miss my other ponies, though.

* The Winger pony.  I didn't have regular yellow Skydancer.
