A nod for ANZAC Day.

I didn't attend any ceremonies this morning, but always take a moment to remember  :)

It's a teary day today. Whenever I hear the bugles, or read the following, I tear up :)
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

lest we forget.

Lest we Forget.

I don't attend the ceremonies (my hubby does go to dawn service) as I tend to get faint rather easily these days, but I do always take a minute to remember. Don't worry, I'm a crier, too!

Yes, least we forget.  I am ashamed to admit I have never attended a dawn service but I always take the time throughout the day to remember those who gave their lives.  I must say, it was nice to hear both the NZ and the Aus national anthems played together on the news tonight.  :)

Since we don't have any services in the US for ANZAC Day Mr. Skeen reflects in his own way, and I am making him some biscuits tonight.

What was ANZAC Day again?
Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand that broadly commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders "who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations" and "the contribution and suffering of all those who have served."[1][2] Originally 25 April every year was to honour the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought at Gallipoli in the Ottoman Empire during World War I. Anzac Day is also observed in the Cook Islands, Niue, Pitcairn Islands, and Tonga. It is no longer observed as a national holiday in Papua New Guinea or Samoa.
