Well whaddaya know???
« on: November 17, 2012, 08:21:59 AM »
I never knew the G3's had a magnetic bit in their front hoof???

I was brushing a new arrival the other day and put her down to go and get some water and I came back and picked her up and lo and behold, she came at me with a pair of sewing scissors stuck to her hoof

I know this is probably the sort of thing everypony knows, but is really surprised me! :yikes:

They make great sewing buddies for this reason!  :)  Did you drop a pin or needle?  Use the pony to find it!

They only included the magnet in the first couple years of G3. It was to operate parts of certain playsets. Or, you know, to hang your spare ponies from any magnetic surface you happen to have. =P Later ponies just have a small hole in one hoof.

When I first bought Hidden Treasure I had too much fun making her treasure chest pop open over and over.
And apparently they are a health hazard as the magnet seems to be strong enough to stop a pacemaker

Lol I found out the other day when my sister's friend was checking out my ponies. She picked up Puzzlemint and BOOM she stuck to some metal! I said to myself "Well this will come in handy when I sew" :p

Actually not the first couple years. Almost ALL G3's have a magnet. It was only in the last year or so (2009-2010) that they stopped putting the magnets in, when they knew the line was coming to a close and didn't plan any more playsets.
Thank you Thimble for my amazingly cute avatar!

Ah, you're right. I think I was thinking of the heads being glued - THAT is something that only lasted the first few years (and thank goodness for that..) Not sure how I confused myself there. o.O

Yes, that magnet is so fun, I used to hang them from my ceiling (there was a beam had metal on the sides of it under the paint).

Love the ponies climbing the fridge! Also, when I'm doing a G3 custom, I have a little metal tray I set them on so I can move them around or put them away and they don't fall over while the paint is drying.

I do the same thing whenever I find playset pieces. I'm glad I'm not the only one!
