Questions about Medical Coding

I am sure some pony here knows how to read it. I am having trouble in my school and it's online, so there is no "visual" help or tutor for me to get helpful instruction. Are there any good books or online tutorials that can help me understand the CPT and ICD-9, modifiers and word problems? What I basically need is word problems broken down so I know what the key words to look for and then how to put the coding together in the format they want. Thank you.

Is this in general or something specific to a specialized area?

I could try to see if my sister knows anything--but I doubt she would really get into that kind of thing until next year

Not my area of knowledge.  Maybe there are communities out there for medical coders?

There's nothing I know of that helps you to figure out 'what they're looking for' aside from practice. It's really hard - especially when you get into op reports! [just graduated in June and took the CPC exam]

Studying medicine related things also, but I'm afraid I can't help you.. it's over my head.

Are there any books on Amazon which may help you? I am a fairly visual learner, so it helps me to see things written out or in diagrams - if there are any related to your topic area (which there quite possibly may be), that may make things a little clearer.
