Finally watched some pre-G4 pony cartoons

Gusty, Truly, and sometimes Lickety Split were pretty mean and rude Especially in the episodes Woe is Me, Crunch the Rockdog, and Baby it's Cold Outside Also the first tooth ponies were mean in the episode The Prince and the Ponies. They wanted to see the newborn twins locked up in chains

The original ponies weren't terribly nice... I remember all the other baby ponies being mean to Baby Lickety-Split after the the dance show (so much that she ran away from home), and I always thought the Flutter ponies were jerks in that movie.  "Oh we could help you, but it's not our problem.  Enjoy your smooze."  I know that's not exactly how it went down, but I never liked their attitude anyway. :\

Ha ha, Truly was wonderfully awful!  Wasn't she the one snapping at Galaxy(?) for being concerned about it . . . SNOWING IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER?  Then there were the flutter ponies:

Tales was the worst for unhealthy interpersonal relationships, though.   Teddy and Ace were such jerks that I have no idea why the others tolerated them.

Yeah, between this and the movie, the flutter ponies weren't the friendliest of ponies, were they?

No, they weren't . . . but that's why I love them so much.    They had that edge to them!

Even their toy versions looked stuck-up.  At least, the "small eyes" versions of them did, and those were the ones I had.

Edit:  Oh, let's not forget Moondancer's backcard story.  "Cotton Candy, you ate my flowers.  So I am going to magically KNOCK YOU UNCONSCIOUS until winter time."  Then one of the other ponies comes looking for Cotton Candy and Moondancer is all, "Why, is it winter already?  Ah ha ha ha!  AH HA HA HA HAAAA!" 

Well, okay, they didn't actually type out the maniacal laughter, but I think it was implied.   

Actually, one of the things I specifically disliked about G3 was that the ponies were too nice.  "Oh Minty, you totally ruined our holiday!  I instantly forgive you!  Let's hug!"   I don't think that was a very healthy message for little kids.  Getting angry once in a while, even with your friends, is not a bad thing, it doesn't make you a bad person.  You just have to learn to deal with it appropriately so you can move on and be happy again.   Man, even the Care Bears had Grumpy Bear.

Baby Lickety Split was incredibly nice towards Spike in the movie!

My favorite Truly moment would be in "Somnambula", when she got all dressed up in the marching band uniform and insisted the band keep practicing long enough that they drowned out the siren song for the rest of the day.
