Good luck tommorrow! I had a lot of interviews after I graduated from vet tech school and I was nervous before all of them, but I must of done okay because all the places wanted to hire me

, that was before the job market got so difficult here in the US, and before becoming a tech was so popular. A lot of people think I play with puppy and kittens all day long and that is so far from the truth (though when a new puppy or kitten does come in, It does make my day!).

I do love my job though, but I always tell people that it's not only about being
mentally prepared, but it's also very physical, and loads of stinky stuff :p

I'm well prepared for dealing with 'the stinky stuff'

After four years of animal care courses I'm quite used to it.
I've had to deal with 'oh you play with animals all day' as well and people writing off my course as 'soft' when to be fair I've put a lot of work into it and had to do a lot to get the grades I finished with.

I think as I understand as the 'animal care assisstant' I'm most likley equivelent to an nursing auxillary so I'm most likley cleaning and feeding for the most part as from what I remember learning in college I wouldn't be cleared to do the more medical stuff. I'll just have to see.

Good luck at your interview!!! I'm a vet assistant myself after graduating from university with a degree in animal science. I'd like to go to vet tech school as I really enjoy what I do at the clinic I'm at. My clinic lets me be really hands on and I've done some things that a vet tech would do such as cleaning teeth and giving injections

I also assist with surgeries! I had called/applied to 15 different local clinics and only one called me back about 2 weeks ago (I started my job in the beginning of June lol). The clinic I work at had me come in for an interview the day after I called and I pretty much got the job on the spot

I do get to play with puppies and kitties... just not all the time lol

Thank. Just got back. I thinki did fairly well I'll find out next week. I'm in a short list of 15 and theyre looking to hire two people so that pushes my chances up a bit.

I liked the interview it was very straightforward which was good.
