help! my account has no payment but buyer says they have paid

     maybe im doing something wrong, i just sold my first item on ebay, and ive been awaiting a payment on a ss crumpet i just sold to a well established buyer with excellent feedback.    in no way do i not believe my buyer is at fault here im just confused.   

they said they have paid me through paypal, but my ebay account is still saying i am awaiting payment   and i have no paymens received in my paypal account.  (i could understand if they would be withheld or pending but the transaction is not even in there)    and when i click on the transaction id link in my ebay account it says the transaction id is invalid.           

am i doing something wrong?  should i just go ahead and ship?   i dont want to delay on my bueyr, but i just havent gotten paid yet

How long ago did they send payment? Have you checked the email you use with your Paypal? The only situation where someone sent me payment and I didn't see it, they sent me an eCheque, and the notice showed up in my email before showing up in my Paypal account.

I'd say don't ship until you figure out the situation, if they did send an eCheque, you should wait until it clears to ship. If it's some other kind of problem, I hope you can get it figured out soon so you can finish up the transaction! I'm sure your buyer will understand a slight delay if there's no money showing up in your account- it would make any seller wary. Good luck ^^

Can you tell them to copy and paste the email the payment was sent to?

Tell the buyer to go to their paypal history and look at their payment sents. Then copy and paste the email. This will probably clear up the issue.

I have had it happen before.  I don't know if it was a glitch in the system or what but it happened.

The only thing is when I checked my Paypal account the transaction was showing.  And going by what you have said, yours is not.

Could it be possible the email address you entered for payment when you listed your items for sale is not correct?

To check, use Sell Similar (on the listing the buyer said they paid) and scroll down to see the email address. The smallest mistake will stop payment from going through.  It also would not hurt to phone ebay and ask them what may have happened.


But absolutely DO NOT ship until that payment shows in PayPal.

no there is no transaction in my account.  i have asked my buyer which address they sent payment to, just waiting to hear back

Some times for what ever reason you have to click to receive it also, that happened to me once, it did show up as going thru as in day and who from, but there was no amount, but a button to click to accept there payment, so sounds abit different to yours, goodluck!

I would check for two things.

1. Go back and check the message you sent to the buyer to see if you typed your paypal addy correct.

2. Have the buyer check and see if the payment says waiting to confirm...if it says that then she/he needs to cancel the payment because the email addy they were trying to send payment to doesn't exist and they need to resend it. This can happen when a buyer types in the wrong address accidentally or you possibly typed it wrong and they just copied and pasted what was sent to them.

3. Have the buyer contact paypal if they don't beleive the payment was never received.

I have made the mistake of mistyping my email to a buyer once myself and the same thing happened when I tried to send money. It is easily resolved and fixable

all fixed!   buyer had awesome communication   im almost certain she is a member here   i recognize her name for some reason.   what happened was i listed my item 30 days ago, in that time frame i changed my paypal email, i changed it on ebay but for somereason the auction link still went to the old email address.     silly ebay

The same happened to hubb yand me a while back whenwe added a new emailaddy to paypal - we changed it at ebay as well, but the payment still went to th eold adress... maybe it takes a while until it shows up correctly at ebay.
