Toy collectors: Do you feel odd asking them as gift ideas?

I don't usally get toys for my b-day from my parents, it's always a big ticket item like an iPod or new Uggs. But from my close friends and sisters I do!

I don't usually ask for them, but I have gotten a few of them from family and friends. A couple of friends bought me a G3.5 for my birthday I turned 25. They knew I collected ponies. (My in-laws didn't understand my "obsession" with cartoons and toys at first, but my mother-in-law even bought be a G3 pony as a stocking stuffer. Stocking stuffers in their family are usually candy and a trinket or a toy. It was nice to see she bought me a pony. Maybe she still thinks it is silly, but she knew it was something cute that I liked.

A friend in college found out I had ponies (I had a small shelf of them in the dorm). The next semester she gave me and my sister each a couple G1 ponies from her childhood! Other friends and my siblings got me G3.

My hubby actually wants me to buy ponies now (I am mostly not buying right now to save up money for kids or a house eventually), mostly he likes spoiling me and I think it makes him feel like he can spend money on little treats for himself too. Since he watches FiM with me, I think he likes the thought buying the G4 ponies. Though I haven't given him that much of a chance to yet. I'm thinking he might get me some for my birthday this summer. I will be turning 27.

I don't feel weird at all! I write down a whole list of ponies and dolls I want and my family is VERY supportive of my collecting They bought me Mimic for my birthday along with a ton of other ponies which was so expensive, but they knew I really wanted Mimic and they wanted to make me happy Toys = happiness so they get them for me I suppose I would feel weird asking for them if they didn't support my collecting though!

Hmm I would never ask my mom would just die. She was great when I collected model horses because she sees those as valuable...not MLP items. Normally though since I'm older I get money or gift cards instead of actual presents. I like to buy a variety of things, so normally that's fine. Besides I never know what I want for my birthday, so I'm lucky to get anything at all since I always say "I dunno".

I wouldn't feel weird asking for them, but since I'm so picky, I'd rather pick out the items for myself. Mum would probably end up with the wrong one if she tried to buy me toys *bless her*. My bf wouldn't know where to begin, he barely knows the difference between G1 and G3! I would certainly send my sis tho, she is as particular as I am and would completely understand about getting the right edition, without factory flaws etc etc.

Nah!  I ask for ponies every year!  The only people who get them are my friends though.  My extended family seems uncomfortable with buying me toys- I guess it's a worry that because I'm on the older side, I'm a "collector" and so I probably have everything they can find in stores? Or maybe they just feel weird about giving a teenager little kids' toys. 

My parents and grandparents all pooled together money to get me a BJD for my birthday, though!  That was really cool.  I hope it means my family might start warming up to the idea that I do actually want toys for Christmas

I'm 32 and i STILL ask for horses and ponies. When we go shopping together, we will go down the pink isle looking for MLP or down the other isle looking for Breyers. I don't feel odd at all. Heck, she got up at 4:30AM last Black Friday just so we could go to Meijers to get a Xbox. She's always pretty much understood my hobby and collecting ways and has helped me out with them.

i turned 21 last Tuesday and i had my party yesterday i got my little pony cards and a my little pony cake dont be afraid to ask for toys for bdays

It's not weird at all!  People mostly get me toys as gifts.

I don't feel odd at all asking for toy gifts from my husband but I do feel odd asking anyone from our families for them. I know I'd feel very awkward unwrapping an MLP in front of everybody.
