Vintage SSC fans, what is this?

I found this recently and I'm thinking about selling it, but I've never seen this before. It's 4 inches tall and plastic. It appears to be hand-painted, but it looks like it was made that way, not painted by a previous owner because the paint doesn't come off.

Any one know about this (were there more?) or have an idea of what it might be worth?

Is the paint maybe sealed on or something? I know some ceramics I've painted absorb the paint and it doesn't come off either. May depend on the paint used. I dunno. I'm sure we have some SSC fans that may be able to help though.

Oh, I think I have that!  I wonder where it's gotten to.  I think it is a paint-your-own figure.  I vaguely remember a kit that gave you the paint and instructions on how to paint it (almost a paint-by-number).  I did find some pictures of ceramic SSC figures that include one in the same mold as this: http://www.strawberry-shortcake.net/CollectorsInfo/Other/CeramicFigures.htm (scroll down).

And here's an ended auction for an unpainted one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&item=260860831014&nma=true&rt=nc&si=NXfVFB89IBHZoQjB7g%252B2RiaY9YI%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

Oh, wow, so it is paint your own? Kind of weird to see a paintable figure that's not ceramic, but that's pretty cool! I guess someone put a bit of effort into making this one accurate.

Thanks for the links!

It's a paint your own.  They made several bank/figurines like this.  :) It's probably sealed of the paint is just really soaked in.  They are pretty cute, they tend to sell better unpainted.  I'd say $20-25 unpainted maybe more like $10-15 painted. It's kind of hard to say.  A collector could tell you better.
I'm not really on here anymore. Email me if you need my for something.

Lol!  I found a smurf one over the summer as well!  I had no clue what it was either.  :)
