I sort of take back what I said about filefish-I was actually looking at triggerfish and some of them also have the little antenna dealie on the head as well, so I think that's a better analogue.  Perhaps both groups are closely related.  Either way, bruxish 4 lyfe.

I'm super obsessed with Bruxish.  It's based on filefish, which are one of my favorite fish groups.  They are all interesting looking and they really do have a stupid little mouth on the end of that long snout.  filled with RAZOR TEETH.  Especially on the bigger species (like scrawled filefish) it's not something you'd want to be bitten by.  And species like the harlequin filefish have crazy colors.  I'm...kind of hoping we get a whole bunch of tropical fish pokes.

And I hear you Princess Lala about feeling like they're from another franchise...but I've felt that way since gen 2, ha.

Thank you everyone for your kind words!  Today I'm going to tackle cleaning more aggressively.  They still smell like stale tobacco even after an initial washing.   >_<

Reading up on restoration stuff now!

Great haul!  I don't think I'll ever get sick of seeing people's thrift and yardsale finds.

Hello all!  I mostly lurk here in the forum, enjoying other people's brags and finds.  But I've finally got one of my own now.  A few weeks ago I went back to the ancestral home and was able to find some of the stuff I'd been thinking about recovering, including Kenner LPS and Puppy in my Pockets...and some of my childhood ponies!

They're super dirty, but there is little damage to the symbols and no chew marks or trauma or anything.   Sky Rocket is pretty hard and may have a couple of spots of mold/cancer and the baby sea pony does too.  I've given them all a preliminary bath and condition.  The hair is very frizzy and there is a lot of ingrained dirt, so I'm thinking an oxyclean bath and some heavy duty conditioner is the next step.

My childhood favorite, Medley, has seen better days.  I'm pretty sure there's tar all over her, her symbols are almost all gone, and her tail is pretty shot.  But, maybe I can customize her into some sort of Super Medley?

The only one that may not be savable is Majesty.  She's got, uh, skin issues.

Thanks for reading!  I'm pretty excited to get these girls looking as good as they'll get.

To add more care sheets-here are some from my job (an exotics-only practice)

Oxbow is great guinea pig food as well as hay!  Definitely give supplemental vitamin C though.  Oxbow makes a treat form but you can use human stuff as well.  About 100 mg a day is appropriate.  The vitamin C drops that go in the water degrades too fast to be of any use.

Clipping (or filing, though I can't imagine a pig sitting still for that) nails is fine. When they're young the nails will be sharper but once they reach adulthood they'll curl under and need regular trimmings.

Hope this helps/wasn't telling you a bunch of stuff you already know!  I looooooove guinea pigs.

Never get tired of seeing other people's collections of stuff.  Why is it so satisfying?

I collect dinosaurs/prehistoric animals as well as some more obscure extant species.

Also natural history ephemera, especially stuff I find myself-shells, bones, feathers, and other bits, as long as it's legal to have.

Pokemon collecting is DEFINITELY a thing I'll be sucked into in the future.  Don't know where you guys find all those figures but they're great.

BIG congrats!  :frolic:

I didn't get mine in highschool, and took me almost a year and a half of practice in adulthood before I could even imagine taking the test.  I got my license in December and it's still intimidating to drive!

Hello!  When I signed up for the forum I just made a name up on the spot.  Could I possibly change it to "bathynomus"?

thanks!
