The Dollhouse / Re: Brand new Isul with a shiny forehead?
« on: August 13, 2015, 04:51:21 PM »
Thank you so much klein!  At least now I know that his only problem is the weird shine and not yellowing.  The shine is odd but yellowing would be outright scary since this is only my third Pullip family doll and I'm just not ready to deal with that.

I'm going to try e-mailing them the way you said, too.  Thanks so much!

I never would have guessed that magic eraser (melamine) was safe for Pullip!

The Dollhouse / Brand new Isul with a shiny forehead?
« on: August 12, 2015, 05:25:17 PM »
Hey, long time no post but I know there are a lot of Pullip fiends here so I'm hoping someone can advise me on this.  I've just received Isul Light, who I've wanted for a long time, and when I swept his bangs to the side I saw that his forehead and eyebrows have a giant triangle patch of shiny plastic wherever the band from his packaging was touching his face.  Also, could any other owners of Light say whether this is yellowing between his eyebrows or just part of his face-up?

Some of the shine is even (it covers parts of each eyebrow in this way) but the effect overall is blotchy, like a water or grease stain.

It isn't sticky.  It looks like residue but doesn't seem to be?  The texture is still soft and smooth, I can't feel the difference with my fingers.  After I took the photos I did use a tissue that was slightly damp from water to try and gently wipe the marks away but they didn't budge at all.

I have contacted Pullip Style and am waiting to hear back but aside from this little - discoloration? inconsistency in matte skin tone? - I really like the little guy so I'm hoping there's a magical fix-his-face solution that they (or one of you) can impart to me instead of doing an exchange.  I've never had an Isul before and getting him in my hands has been like love at first handling - his body and joints feel so solid compared to Dal - everything is perfect except this darn stain-thing.

Has anyone seen this sort of thing before?  What is it?  Is there a way of fixing him?  I'm not going to try anything until I've heard back from PS but some possible solutions would definitely sound nice right now.

Thanks for any help!

I just looked them up - the singles with one outfit are in a series called Furbulous Fashion Friends and yours is Fancy Bear.  Some of them are just too sweet.  They kind of remind me of Bitsy Bears.

Wow, she's quite the collector!  I love how pleased she looks buried under those toys.  I bet that if she had a nice her-size room with shelves and curios there would still be stuff all over the place in explosive toyland chaos. :P

I recognize most of what she has but what is that charming pink and white bear?  He's so cute!

I'm glad I could help.  Some of them just stand out.  :)

A few more -

Picture 9, Doll 1 is 2003 Duke de Sucre from the Sweetsville series.

Picture 10, Doll 1 is 2001 Detective Tommy
Doll 7 is a lemonheaded Kelly friend from 2003-2004 but I'm not sure of who.

Picture 13, Doll 3 is the 2008 Holiday Barbie, aka 20th Anniversary Holiday Barbie.

Picture 17, Doll 1 is a Fairytopia girl, listed as Pink Fairy

Picture 19, Doll 3 is the 1992 Princess Jasmine doll released in promotion of the movie when it first came out.  I recognize her sweet face.
Doll 7 is Ballerina Princess Cinderella - the Ballerina Princess dolls started coming out just a few years ago, not sure of exactly when.

Picture 20, Doll 2 is Ballerina Princess Ariel

Picture 22, Doll 3 is another Fairytopia girl - I've only seen her listed as Purple Fairy.

Picture 4, Doll 3 looks like Becky, one of Kelly's first friends.  Judging by the state of her hair I think she's the first edition from 1995.  I remember that unruly mop of curls quite well.  Comparison pics here at Li'l Friends of Kelly - http://www.lilfriends.net/gallbecky.html

I believe Doll 5 in the same picture is the first Kelly from the New Baby Sister playset, minus a bit of her hair.

Picture 7, Doll 4 is 1994 Dr. Barbie.
Doll 6 is Barbie's cousin Jazzie but I'm not sure which release.

Picture 9, Doll 2 is 1999 Golfer Liana, friend of Kelly.
Doll 4 is 1996 Bicyclin' Whitney, friend of Stacie.
Doll 5 is Skipper's friend Courtney and she looks like the 1990 Babysitter release.

Picture 10, Dolls 3, 4 & 5 are the triplets who came with 1994 Babysitter Skipper.  Their onesies had a strip of velcro which allowed them to stick to Skipper's outfit.  Doll 3 wore yellow, 4 wore blue and 5 wore pink.  The set came with three color-coded bibs that would reveal the baby's name when it was dipped in water - I don't know if they were all the same or not but I remember my pink girl was Nikki and I think blue was Mindi and yellow Kathy.

Picture 15, Doll 1 is the 1999 Dance Party release of Tori from the Generation Girl series.  She looks fantastic!

Picture 18, Doll 1 is a 2004 Princess and the Pauper Kelly doll.
Doll 2 is a 2005 Ballet Bunch Melody, sold as part of a five pack of Kelly dolls.  She's wearing Kelly's dress from a 2001 Birthday Party series.
Doll 4 is a Berry Lil' Babies Strawberry Shortcake by Playmates.
Doll 5 is 2001 Stargazer Liana.

Picture 22, Doll 1 is 2005 Fairytopia Dandelion.
Doll 2 is 2002 Princess Chelsie.
Doll 5 is a 2005 Ballet Bunch Deidre, wearing Gia's tutu from the same set.

Good luck with the other IDs!   :)

I just found them listed on Ghost of the Doll.

I'd never heard of them before but they are very cute.  Hope you can find some at a good price.   :)

Thank you so much!  And ooh, she's lovely.  It looks like she was missed in my search because she wasn't released under quite the same 'Styling Pony' title.  :)

I voted for Cherry Spices, Roseluck, Pudding Pie, Firecracker Burst and Ribbon Heart.  However I'd also be very happy to see Bitta Luck, Tea Love, Coconut Cream and Sea Swirl.  The more I look at my list the harder it is for me to be sure of how to order them (maybe I do like this one better than that one) but those are my top nine. :P

Cherry Spices is definitely my number one though, with Roseluck in second place.

Pony Corral / Question and Pic Request for G3 Styling Ponies
« on: January 27, 2012, 09:49:48 PM »
A few months ago I saw a picture of a G3 Styling Pony for the first time and I'm curious about them.  It seems they're the perfect size for posing with 1/6 scale dolls, which is where my interest in them comes from (aside from thinking, 'wow, that's a lot of pony').  Before seeing them I only knew about the G3.5 Styling Ponies (which kind of scare me) and the G4 Fashion Style Ponies which, if I'm not mistaken, are closer to the size of a normal G3.

So I looked them up on mlpland.com and a list of five came up from 2006 - were there any more than this under a different title?  It lists Cheerilee, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash and two versions of Rarity.  I was kind of hoping for something closer to a dozen to choose from. XD

And if anyone has pics of these beauties to share I'd love to see them.  I'm especially taken with Cheerilee.  :)

Wow!  I think you did very well then - Peanut's back on shelves right now as she was rereleased last Fall due to high demand.  She's on Amazon right now, new for $24.99. :)

The Dollhouse / Re: BATGIRL!

The bodysuit does limit her posability some, but not necessarily because it's so tight...more because it's so thick.  The material is stiff, and I'm sure if the Pullip stock body were a little stronger, I'd feel comfortable bending her around more to pose in it, but as it is, I'm scared I'll break her if I force her to bend too much, lol.

Thank you for answering.  That's pretty much what I'd guessed - it looks like she can do the karate chops just fine but no high kicks. ;)

Seeing them open the DC Comics door allows for so many exciting possibilities!  I think your idea of Harley Quinn sounds like a great candidate to be next (maybe accompanied by a Joker Tae or an Ivy).  Ooh, or Black Canary and Huntress to go with Babs as the Birds of Prey.  Or Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Zatanna, Hawkgirl, Wonder Girl...

When I first saw Babs and Selina I was hoping it would mean a little Batfamily series with Robin or Nightwing represented as well.  Right now I'm trying to make myself wait before buying my first Pullip doll but if they came out with a Robin, any of the Robins including Stephanie as a Pullip or Damian as a pouty little Dal (because he's too short to be an Isul, poor thing), I'd be completely done in.

Yeah... comic book Taes would kill me dead. Dick Grayson would make a perfect tae, he's such a pretty boy anyway XD

He really would, from his perfect hair to his smirk to his toes. ;)

Oh, Babs...

She's so beautiful.  She looks every inch the kickass, confident heartbreaker.  If there were a Nightwing Tae he'd be losing it. ;)

I have a question, which I've wondered about since seeing the promos for the DC girls - does the bodysuit inhibit her posability at all?  The suits look so snug that they immediately made me wonder if the dolls could sit in them.

This has just made my night! XD

I love the way you set the scenes up. Even with two very different types of dolls, the action looks natural. Great job!  Is that Spectra's phone in her hand? (Is she just standing there blogging about this?)

Draculaura and Spike make for a surprisingly cute couple. :D

I have lots of other doll collections.
~Pullips (Fantastic Alice, Clara, Elizabeth, Shan-ria, Lunatic Queen, Mir, Zuora, Nahh-ato, and two mini Cheshire Cats.)
~Barbies (The only one pre-90's is Malibu Barbie.)
~Jem (Only missing Clash and Raya aside from Rio and the starlight girls.)
~Fairies (Four more until I complete my MIB collection and I have four loose ones.)
~Sailor Moon (Moon, Mini Moon, Jupiter, Venus, and Neptune.)
I also have a Moxie Alice in Wonderland, but I'm not sure if I'll keep her.
!!!!
Those faries!!! What are those fairies? I remember these, I'm 90% sure I used to have that pink one. O_O

Those are Fairies of Cottingley Glen dolls, released in 1997 in promotion of the movie Fairy Tale: A True Story.  There were ten dolls in all, six from the regular line and four deluxe Royal Fairies.  Here's a handy guide to them -

Oh my gosh, thank you! I diiid have Lutey, I remember now. :o
These are so cute!

You're quite welcome!  I love these dolls.  I used to have Habetrot and lost her but since then I've gathered up five others through ebay.  Even though they aren't highly articulated they're a delight to pose as they tend to look very graceful, like tiny dancers. :)
