Thank you Aadra 310 for pointing out that link.  I will definitely keep an eye out on a lavender clam shell.  I will hold off on painting my clam shell and just save my money for one of the originals unless or course I can get ahold of a replica.  Thank you everyone for your input and know that you helped save a perfectly good shell

That is so awesome!!  I was thinking of trying to make my own shells by making a mold of an original one but there is no way they would have turned out as well as these.  If anything, it would have been a big disappointment and waste of money.  Do you think you may be doing the clam shell version any time? I am looking for a lavender one for High Tide.

As for how much to charge, I would pay $25 just out of frustration of how expensive and hard they are to come by.  Not sure how much your overhead cost is along with the trial and error testing

Good luck and will keep checking back for a lavender clam shell  ^.^

Pony Corral / Painting the shells of Sea Ponies

Has anyone painted a clam shell from the first set of sea ponies to match the color of a clam shells from the second set?  Would this be considered a cardinal sin?  I have an extra shell (purple or pink) the I am very tempted to paint lavender for High Tide.  Even if I could find a shell for High Tide, they are so expensive to purchase.  Any suggestion on what would be the best kind of paint to use to adhere to plastic?

Thanks

Instead of selling off my Collection of G1 ponies, I find myself collecting again.  Right now I seem to fancy sea ponies and their floats/shells.  I am focusing my funds on US released ones at this time.  I still need all three conch shells, the lime green clam shell, baby sea pony Sea Breeze and her float, green lobster float, and dark pink frog float.
Thank you,
Jodi

Pony Corral / Re: popping the head back on

I have a g1.  It seems like it would be easy popping her head back on, but no no, not so.  I will try the hair dryer.  Thank you everyone for your feedback

Pony Corral / popping the head back on

Is there a trick to putting a pony's head back on other than sheer force?  I am afraid I am going to rub the paint right off of her eyes.  It was much easier getting off than on once you heat up the adhesive.

Price Check Archives / Re: PC on sea ponies and floats please!
« on: August 26, 2015, 03:19:35 PM »
I did a price check on Whitecap and was told over $100-120 for the shell alone.  And around $170 for both the pony and shell.  I came across a local add that had her for $30 with shell, comb, and brush.  I wasn't the first one to respond so I was left out in the cold with my head hanging  >_<

Good luck,
Jodi

If I had that kind of money, I offer to buy her.  Which is silly because I keep saying I am going to sell my collection

What an amazing transformation.  I hope to possess skills like that someday.

Thank you Mermaid for getting back to me.  There was an individual in Canada selling Whitecap and her shell, dark purple brush, and comb for $30 Canadian on a website that I have no idea how I stumbled across.  I went for it and even offered more because I knew she was worth way more than that.  Unfortunately for me, another collector saw her first.  Oh well.  I wasn't even looking for her, but at such a great deal, how could I pass?  All I really want is the green clamshell for Sealight which I still haven't found.  As for the TAF baby ponies, they are not at a great bargain price, but tempting just the same.

I also found an sold listing on eBay from July 29th for MO Mommy pony with a buy it now price for $16.95.  Could you imagine being the first person to have stumbled across that.   I don't think I could get my fingers to type fast enough.

Thank you again,

Wanted! / Re: Help from Cambridge, Ontario, Need to get pony sent to WI

Thank you so much for the link.  I tried e-mailing that individual a 4th time and no response.  I will scan the link and see if there is anybody from Southern Ontario who could help me out.  Thanks again!!

Both the babies and sea pony seem to be in really nice shape.  The sea pony has her shell, brush and comb.  For someone trying to sell off her collection some day, i have no idea why I am even asking for the price.  Definitely going in the wrong direction here

Thanks,
Jodi
