Pony Corral / Re: Wave 5 BB quality control? (these were found in the UK)

The target market for the toys remains children and pocket money quality - unfortunately we cant expect collectors standards when these factors remain.

I do agree with that, but it's just that they are quite obvious flaws that gets me. For example it doesn't bother me on the white ponies where the hair hasn't been painted right up to the hairline. That really doesn't matter to me as I'm sure it is hard to do such small work quickly and well. But Lyra Heartstrings has green and white hair and there are white lines going off onto the green part. It just needed a touch up with the green again and it would have been fine.

wave 5 - thats the first time I have heard them spotted in the UK - congrats!

Whoops. I don't mean to post a negative first find type post! I am really pleased to have them, and I can easily buy them again. It's just a shame when you're really excited to get something and then there are little issues.

Mind you I was quite a fussy child with keeping toys in order and not messing them up so I wouldn't damage them so maybe it's stemming from that

Cool! I chose Applejack and Fluttershy. I'd love to see these as opposed to the two suggestions they put up. That dragon scared me a lil

Congratulations on them all. I love blind bags as they just look so cute and for the variety of characters. ^_^

That's really a shame  :( I haven't had any problems with badly painted blind bags so I can't really help. I did see though that you are just across the border from me! I wonder if they will make it over the Severn bridge  ;)

None of my wave 3 are dodgy, and my wave 4 lot are all lovely and glittery. It's such a shame that some of these seemed to have slipped the net.
I was so excited to see them in the shop though, I thought I'd have to wait longer before finding them. It's certainly worth going and having a look for them ^_^

Having just found the wave 5 BBs in my local toys-r-us I felt I just had to share my excitement with a piccy, even if some of them are a little flawed :P (but you can't see the way I display them so its okay)

So here are the majority of my BBs, complete sets of wave 4 and wave 5. The only ones that are missing are the few third wave ones, but I need to get another set of shelves to put them on!
Up top are the glitter wave 4s and below my new today 5s. Yay.

It might be a bit fussy, but I was a bit frustrated when I put the new lot up as there wasn't an even number of left and right display sides like the wave 4s. But now I look at them I'm over it, they're too cute to stay frustrated at!

Wingless Dash is so cute. The colour in one is interesting, makes me think of doodle bears!

Congrats, they're great additions to your collections ^_^

Pony Corral / Wave 5 BB quality control? (these were found in the UK)

Hi all,

So, how excited was I to walk into Toys-R-Us and two meters into the store there was a whole load of Yellow blind bags??? Well, I actually jumped and squeaked a little

I spent a good 15 minutes having to sort through them as there were two boxes merged into one. Then I spent a while checking with management if this purchase qualified for a free single pony (spend over £25 offer, which they agreed it would and did it for me yay :satisfied:)

So then I get home, open them up and three had major paint flaws. Where the hair was painted it was either all over the pony's face/ears, or the colours were splashed over each other instead of being distinct. I was so upset.

Obviously they are now in line to be replaced but has anyone else had problems with their BB ponies? It just seems so obvious that it's a shame they've ended up in the bags anyway. I'm sure for a couple they could have just repainted them.

Cool haul! I saw those hoodies online once and thought they were really sweet.

I have to say thought I am totally in love with that Fluttershy t-shirt. It's amazing, I really love that kind of French art nouveau. Fluttershy looks great in that syle (So does Rareity but I'm a little more of a Fluttershy girl ^_^)

Your so lucky. Enjoy them all ^_^

Pony Corral / Re: Anyone never expect to get into ponies?

It's not that I never thought it would happen, more just that I never thought of it. I had G1 had-me-downs from my sister, and remember going to the charity shop with my mum and getting a few more G1s and really loving them. I had the ABC nursery thing, and a show stable type thing too. Then I got older, and sold them all, and never looked back.

I bought one for a project a couple of months ago and was so chuffed with her that I got the urge to get more. Now the rest is two month old history

The biggest surprise though is how much my boyfriend has got into them! At first I think he just thought it was nice I was doing it, now hes buying them from the shops for himself as much as me. He's eager to try and complete *our* 3rd wave blind bag set and quite wants a Shining Armour. We've also started watching FiM online.

It's great collecting MLP though, they really make you smile when you're having a bad day and it's great to share it with my boyfriend and so many like minded people all over the world ^_^

it's so lovely and neat.

You have more self restraint than me for keeping them in the boxes! ^_^

I have 5 dollymix Mintys but they are all MIP so I'm not sure if they can stand or not :yikes:

I'm thinking I should have kept them MIP. But at the same time I really wanted to display them. And wonkyness certainly scuppers that plan!

Heart Throb is in a sort of walking pose anyway, so it does seem like she has trouble standing sometimes! I think I have the comb slipped under a few of mine to help with the balance.

I'm liking that thought. I've been wondering where to put the combs!

Pony Corral / Wonky dolly mix?

Hi all,

So my local Tesco petrol station has randomly started selling Dolly mix (as selling it in the actual store next door would just be crazy), so obviously I bought some. However it seems a couple of them are so wonky I can barely get them to stand  :(

I have a Heart Throb and Minty who don't stand on the feet they are meant to, and have to lean precariously to stand, and Minty is particularly bad at this balancing act unfortunately.

It's odd as Shady is in the same pose as Minty and stand perfectly.

Anyone else had this problem??

She looks fantastic! Now I feel regretful I didn't get Daizy (or whatever her name is) from the Sally Ann the other day. She had the same frizzy hair problem.

Aww shame. Though I know what you mean, I do try and avoid ones that are sporting crazy hair dos but I loved her hair colours and cutie mark so she had to come home

Aww thanks everyone. ^_^ I'm glad you all like it.

I used straws, sellotape and a couple of hair grips. It felt fiddly, but I think that's partly down to practice.

After I had washed her hair I separated out sections of colour and then twisted them. They seemed to have a wave to them already so I tried to keep that direction. Then when it was fully twisted I wrapped about half of the length of the section around a straw.

I couldn't figure how to make it stay so I used a little but of sellotape to go just over the edge of the hair and down excess bits of straw to keep it.

I then put a hair grip over the tape, not the hair, to weight down the sections of hair so they didn't spring out of shape.

I then left her like that for two days to dry/set. I unwrapped her hair carefully, making sure any sellotape on the hair followed the length of the hair downwards so as not to damage it. And voila! there she was in all her curled glory!

^_^
