Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Re: Zelfs! Ohmygosh they're way too cute.
« on: July 16, 2014, 12:01:19 AM »
So I stopped at a different TRU today and found more new Zelfs! I got Webina, Catsby, Lady B, and Dandy Lion from the 2nd wave; I was excited to see them because my area never got the second half of wave 2. I also got Lullaby and SNOWPHIE! So excited yay!!

Has anyone seen Manny or Billy in stores yet? It seems like no one has found them yet, or Cupie, Pandela,  Chi, Petal, or Sugar Bunny. Maybe they're coming in another wave? I haven't heard of anyone finding the scented ones either. Not sure about the large sized Zelfs-- I know I haven't seen them, at least. Does anyone know yet if the large-sized Zelfs like the dragon and the ballerina have been spotted in the medium size? I love some of those designs but I don't like the bigger zelfs!

I'm out of town and found Sealia, Float, Dolly, Ty Foon, and Dorothy Doe at a TRU we passed by. Is series 3 going to be released in waves like S2 was? I'm trying to figure out which ones are likely to be in stores now. Geez, I am so excited about all the unique colors and themes these things come in!

Does anyone else have Dolly? Mines wings are softer than any of my other Zelfs, and they feel almost sticky.

Well, Elsa must have been in stock at some point today because she's showing up on Disney's website, but she's out of stock already. I, of course, missed it again. I have been trying to buy this doll for 7 months, this is absolutely ridiculous! :drunk:

i can now say the most outlandish impulse buy i had.... was the thorin oakenshield statue from Weta ..... they were at DCC and ..i just had to have him XD

That's not outlandish that's awesome!

My latest is (again) dragon related. HTTYD 2 soundtrack from Amazon. And one of the small tie in chapter books. I love the illustrations, "Dragon Mountain Adventure".

You and I are on the same page, it seems :P My last impulse buy was a Skrill, Cloud Jumper, and the HTTYD2 soundtrack... Last impulse buy before that one was Toothless and Stormfly...dragons dragons dragons!

Yeah, you can catch sales every so often if you keep your eyes out. My Walmart has Rapunzel on clearance right now for $5, but just her.

Maleficent and Merida look good....but I'm getting super sick of them using primarily Pixar characters with a few live-action movie characters thrown in. It's Disney Infinity, not Disney's Franchise Infinity. Sooooo not excited about the Marvel characters!

Has anybody downloaded the Marie cafe theme yet?

sailorstitch

I have. It's cute but it's so sickeningly pink. Not sure how worth it it was, but I like Marie so it's fun having her show up around my town now.

Everyone else is so psyched for it, so I want to be psyched for it, but from the information I've seen it doesn't sound very interesting. Like, you create a bunch of Miis and then watch them do stuff? Is that it? (I really don't like the Mii's style and look so I'm afraid an entire game featuring them would bother me.) I think I'll have to wait until it comes out and see screenshots or something. I wish I could join in on all the hype!

Off Topic / Re: Kids films that give you nightmares
« on: May 30, 2014, 10:55:40 PM »
The Brave Little Toaster. I had so many nightmares because of that movie. D:

OMG yes.  When the window fan started getting angry, because he couldn't move.  When the appliances were in that used appliance store (or whatever it is) and they did that song and the old fashioned scary music.  Also, when the appliances were in the forest with the creepy trees.  I mean, I can watch it now obviously without being scared but when I was a kid those were the parts that scared me.

This! There were so many screwed up things about that movie! I re-watched it a year or so ago, and omg how on earth is any of that movie okay for children? Isn't there a scene where the toaster is dreaming that he's being chased by an armed clown, and in the end of the dream falls into a bathtub and electrocutes himself??

The part that got me as a kid was when the vacuum starts to vacuum up its own cord. I would not vacuum for years and years and YEARS because I was afraid I'd run over the cord and it'd suck itself up and short circuit or something.

I was so terrified of the movie, The Pagemaster as a kid. I thought the idea of the movie was great but every time I watched it I got nightmares.

That one was pretty questionable too. Most of it I was okay with, but the whole Dr.Jekyll/Mr.Hyde part was pretty terrifying!

And has anyone seen Little Nemo's Adventures in Slumberland? There's one part where ominous dark smoke is seeping under a doorway. You can't even seen the villain, it's just the smoke under the doorway. I would have to leave the room because that scene terrified me. As I recall, I was fine with the actual villain :P

I'm also a goat owner who can't help you much-- my goat is a wether :P He's an African pygmy goat. I got him and his brother when they were a few months old. His brother died a couple of years ago, and I figure my remaining goat is about 13 now, so he's pretty up there. They're a lot of fun though! And yep, I can confirm the whole escape artist thing :P Even with a big set of horns, my goats would always find a way under their fence. Good luck with the potential purchase though! Hopefully someone else will pop in who can give you better information.

Off Topic / Re: Toothless coming to BABW??? HE'S OUT!!!!!!!!!!
« on: May 26, 2014, 09:40:58 PM »
Great pic Calico Star! Love your outfit!

Does Toothless come in a regular BAB box or is it something special?

I think he just comes in a normal box. I didn't get a box for mine because I was headed straight back to the convention with him! XD

Oooooo Calico_Star!! That's a great cosplay! Can I ask a favor? My step-mother is a seamstress and wants to start making cosplays to sell, but she is clueless about the cosplay world so she asked me to collect a bunch of photos to look at so she gets the idea. May I use your photo please? I promise it won't be use in any promotional way or posted anywhere online, I'm just going to print a bunch of photos of cosplayers and show them to her, along with pictures of the actual character, so she can see what cosplaying is about.

Go right ahead! Best of luck to her!

Toothless actually looks pretty cute in the Toothless hoodie! When I was heading out of the mall, I saw a little girl with a Toothless dressed up in a tank top and a tutu. It just looked so wrong and hilarious at the same time. The guy who was stuffing my Toothless asked me "So are you going to dress him up, or leave him naked like he should be?" Said he hates seeing people dress Toothless up all girly XD

Toothless seems to be crazy popular! I'd normally have to order online since my nearest BAB is 4-5 hours away, but I was out of town at an anime convention and there was a BAB nearby, so I went by on Saturday. The guy who was stuffing my Toothless said that they had gotten 125 in, but only had 15 left by Saturday morning. I was shocked that they sold through so many so fast when the new movie isn't even out yet. Here's mine!

Off Topic / Re: Makeup help-- acne and blemished skin?
« on: May 19, 2014, 04:29:27 PM »
Thanks so much for all the suggestions so far, ladies! You've been very helpful! I guess another thing I should mention is that I hadn't thought of this well enough ahead of time to have time to wait for shipping online-- I leave for the convention in 3 days. So I'll need something I can get at a common brick-and-mortar store. But I will look into the online-only products for next year!

LBS- Sorry for my ignorance, but wouldn't putting oil on oily skin make it more likely to break out? I do moisturize my skin, but I use oil-free moisturizers. I do have coconut oil hanging around here somewhere, though...

IceCrystalline- Thanks for the great advice! I will check for those brands on my next shopping trip :)

Radiance- Thanks! Nice to hear input from someone with similar type skin. Are those products available in stores, or only through their website?

Prideth- I definitely like the idea of not having to try to match a skin tone, especially if it's something that's only available online, lol. I did an Amazon search and found several products with that name- which one is the one you're referring to?

Missed out on Elsa AGAIN :( The real bummer is that I checked the Disney Store website this morning and she wasn't up. This is so ridiculous, I've been trying to buy this doll since December >.<

Off Topic / Makeup help-- acne and blemished skin?
« on: May 19, 2014, 11:31:29 AM »
Let me start off by saying that I know absolutely nothing about makeup. I never wear it-- no desire to. Which is probably just as well, because I'm one of those lucky individuals whose acne stuck with them even after those awkward high school days, and I know makeup isn't the best thing for acne. I'm in my mid-20's now and still have terrible skin.

While I don't appreciate it at all, I can live with it, EXCEPT for three days a year when I'm cosplaying at my favorite anime convention. I do want to hide my blemishes and acne scars as much as I can while I'm parading around dressed as princesses and such. My skin also gets oily and shiny very quickly, so I'd also like to cut down on that as well.

In the past, I've used a mineral foundation that I got at Costco a couple years back. It works a little bit-- evens out my skin tone a little, but doesn't help tons. If I put much on, then I just look powdery, and all those little fine, nearly-invisible facial hairs are suddenly skin-toned and much more visible. But if I put less on, it doesn't do much to cover blemishes.

I know there are plenty of makeup-savvy ladies on this forum. Does anyone have any recommendations? Brands to try? As specific as possible would be great because I'm very very makeup-inept. I know you usually get what you pay for, but I'm hoping to find something that's not very expensive, as I'll only wear it, literally, 3 days a year. Help, I have no idea what I'm doing!
