What a lovely herd! Love Streaky and Bon Bon!! No idea about the rubber band issue though.

Awww- thank you both. I love my little collection!

Flitter- thank you! I curled them myself! Some had no curl left, others had limp curls which I worked with to get them looking perky again. I really enjoy doing their hair!

The quality of the hair, the quality of the plastic (yeah it started having issues years later, but it feels "just right" compared to hard brittle fakies or fakies with super thin squishy plastic), the backcard stories, the gorgeous watercolor art on the backcards . . . Even the fact that there were multiple brush molds and ribbon colors.  Like, they could have put a pink ribbon in with every pony because "girls love pink" and they could have made just one style of brush.  The fact that they went the extra mile just adds something.

One thing that G1 did better than any other generation was how they organized and promoted their sets.  They had small, well-defined sets of ponies and they advertised them in a way that kids would find easy to remember and keep track of:  on the backcards and in the brochures.

These are excellent points. I was thinking about the brushes earlier- the fact that you could have a bird, or a flower, or a star. To a child all these little things can add a little bit more magic. I love that you've said about the beautiful artwork too, because nobody makes such lovely packaging for toys anymore (as far as I can think).

Do it! I love looking at people's collections!

(Rosierjay makes a very important point though about privacy- so be sure it's what you want! But you can always decide to take things down anyway.)

I only collect G1s and it purely a nostalgia thing for me. I think if I'd have had G2s or G3s as a child I'd be collecting them.

But I agree with Taffeta about the brushable tails. That was a big attraction for me as I could spend hours plaiting them.

The G1s just seemed so magical to me and I had a very vivid imagination- my ponies were definitely my friends as a child!

I read the comics religiously and was in the My Little Pony Club which I loved- there was that element of somehow feeling involved.

I think all these little things added up to create a really fantastic range. The playsets were also so classic- the Grooming Parlour, Dream Castle, The Show Stable, Lullaby Nursery. It was a perfect little world for me!

 lol- that's the opposite of me Taffeta! I really didn't like the Perfume Puff smells (and the Perfume Puff Palace atomiser-thingy), but I really liked the others, including Chocolate Chip! Though she didn't smell as good as Lemon Treats, who, if I was any younger at the time, I would have probably tried to eat!!

I'm not really a fan of the pony friends- I think that's because they were new to me, as I'd grown out of ponies by the time they were released, or they weren't released in the UK (??).

The first time I saw Creamsicle and the Llama, I was like "WHAT are THEY??!!!!" I thought they looked like mutated ponies!! They just looked so alien to me!

Anyway, for some reason, I find Zig Zag completely adorable!! I'm quite partial to Spunky too. (Spunky- titter!!! Makes me smile everytime!)

Wow! That is amazing! I can't believe it's the same pony!! I love seeing before and after pictures. You must get a lot of satisfaction from seeing the transformation! Great job!

I have a small collection (well- compared to others!). I have a few more ponies other than the ones shown, but this is the main bulk. I've nearly finished my winger collection (I got Starry Wings last week!), I just need Cool Breeze. I'm very into So Soft ponies at the moment and I'm looking forward to finding Angel and Twilight in particular, but I am quite picky, and these seem particularly difficult to find in really good condition. I'm also after SS Cherries Jubilee and Skippity-Doo. I'm trying not to grown my collection too big, as I don't have space!

I had Cherry Treats and Lemon Treats as a child and they both smelled lovely!! I particularly loved Lemon Treat's fresh, zesty smell- she definitely smelled like lemons. Probably lemon sherbert.

They look amazing- I love Quackers!!!
