I GOT A PONYTA!! This is very exciting for me hahah and I also reached Level 8 (almost 9 and then my battery died) since I don't have to share it with my daughter this week (she's staying with her cousins until tomorrow).

My hometown newspaper reported that an idiot with an outstanding warrant went to the local police department (it's a gym), following his PokemonGO app, the police looked outside, saw him, and arrested him  I love hearing stories like this!

On a serious note though, I have really bad social anxiety, and this app has really helped me get out of my shell--I've walked up to so many people and just started chatting about Pokemon, something I would never, ever thought I'd do in a million years. It gives me the warm fuzzies. My mom told me (while laughing at my geekiness) that she was so proud of me.  I got tips on using Lucky Eggs today from a Level 14 guy, a fellow Valor teammate helped me get a Magmar last night, and some younger teens randomly told me where to find a bunch of Staryu. I know a lot of people are making fun of us for playing this game, but I just think it's so great. I met a mom last night who has an autistic son--he hates going outside, and he actually asked to go for a walk yesterday through town, to catch Pokemon. She downloaded the game right then and was right there with him, just supporting him and making sure he didn't walk into the road. I love it!

The freezes are driving me crazy!! I only got ONE pokestop to work tonight GRRRR!

I did have a great time at the Farmers Market, finding some Team Valor guys and giving Instinct a hard time ;) They set a lure and I caught my first Magmar!! YAY!!

My gym badges are up in my shop, if anyone wants to support their team :D

Yup, you need to walk to hatch them, and the app has to be open and on for it to count. I've seen someone ride their bike really slowly and it counted. He hatched 4 eggs that way.

Also, make sure you have "battery saver" checked in the settings. It turns the screen off when you hold it at your aide upside down. Hopefully, they continue to work on the battery drain.

Yup, it booted me off while I was trying to hatch an egg, and I can't get back on. It crashed about 4 or 5 times when I went into town earlier. There was a Pikachu! But I think it was on the expressway, we were on the service drive :(

My husband indulged us (me and my 6yo daughter) and drove around so we could hit a couple Pokestops. Someone had a lure at DQ lol and I made him drive around a roundabout 2 times so I could get the Pokestop before he got annoyed hahaha The high school is the nearest gym! I was finally able to join a team (Valor), but then too far away to battle.

My daughter caught a couple Oddish, Zubat, Eevee, and Drowzee. She's better than I am at catching!

We went to the Farmers Market tonight, and I couldn't believe how many Pokestops were down there! It's really neat how the app gets you out and exploring your area--all the Pokestops were part of the area's downtown Sculpture Walk. Super cool! My 6yo played it on our drive home and is pretty good at catching! I'm not so great, but I did catch an Eevee and a Pidgeotto in the backseat of our truck after gymnastics this morning!

Off Topic / Re: Long distance relationships experience
« on: May 24, 2016, 03:56:08 PM »
DH and I did the long-distance thing straight out of high school--I stayed in Michigan, and he went to university in New York (7-8 hr car trip one way). It sucked big donkey balls, but we did it. We've been together for 13 years this week :) As poor college students, we weren't able to go see each other as frequently as we wanted, but he was home for summer (well, mostly...he did go out of state to work during the summer) and Christmas, as well as Thanksgiving and Spring Break. I went out there for a weekend in the fall and in the spring. We talked on the phone every day (LOL I bought him his first cell phone), and we did have webcams, mailed stuff to each other, etc. 4 years of that sucked, and I was also working 2 jobs, full-time school, planning our wedding, buying a house, my dad up and left the family for his mistress of 10 years...looking back, I'm surprised all that stress didn't ruin the relationship ::pats self on back:: Really, I think it just comes down to respect for each other and the relationship, and keeping up with communication; it's hard, but it CAN be done!

I'm not sure what you have in Australia, but here in the US, we have Consumer Reports that reviews car safety ratings, as well as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and various other crash test sites. You could start with the manufacturer and work from there. Also, look for "crumple zones," because that is what takes the impact in a crash. DH and I both drive pickup trucks with my daughter in the backseat, my sister drives a full-size SUV with her kids, so I don't have any advice with smaller cars :/
