Customs / Re: Customizers' chit-chat thread
« on: November 24, 2023, 10:29:07 PM »
Hello all, just wondering what the current feeling is about using G1s with stickiness or age spots for custom projects? I have a few that are fairly bad and I'm not sure whether to advertise them or lay them to rest. I won't have time to work with them now. Sometimes if cleaned and dried etc. I have noticed that ponies like this can remain stable for some time but I couldn't guarantee it. If they are going to start leaking or getting worse again I'm not sure it would be worth the time and effort for a customiser.

@Minty_Magic we also love foodie options in our house! The coffee subscription started arriving early and I must say it's a real monthly event when an exciting new roast turns up. And then you don't have trinkets lying around as you say, that you don't really need.

This is the DIY interchangeable holiday basket I got for my mom :)

That's such a great idea especially for someone in a care home. I guess you can add small favourite items or keepsakes? Would love to see a finished version of it.

I ordered some prints and framed photos from our family things this year, including a framed photo I took at my neice's 9th Birthday. I think my sister's family will love it as they don't get a lot of time to do things like that.

HOM deffo save physical jobs for when you're well again!!!
Artie I wish it were that easy for me to tidy stuff!!!
Beldarna it's good you have an energy-boosting med for daytime xxx
BC here's hoping everything works out xxx

Scarlet O'Hara has arrived, & though it's harder to deal with her on the downstairs facility, it's still doable, as long as I don't leak too much.
The floor is delated a day but it will be all go tomorrow. Meanwhile the work has been checked & some spots need a second coat or a patchup, but they've been marked.
As predicted, the so-called "scarf yarn" only made a half-length scarf. Would be better as a hand-muff or maybe a hat, which means redoing everything.... But not now. Now I'm back on a blanket, which despite being slow, is still go, so yaiy there at least.

People do wear scarfs that are half one colour and half another colour... but I feel your pain! So excited for you that they are improving your living space!

Hi Ponyfan, no I think that's a seedling maybe a random seed got into your plant pot? I would grow it in case it's interesting. But it's basically a weed.

Hi Honeycomb, I think that there are always fungi ocurring naturally in the soil so I would just stir the top layer of soil and top with sterilised bark or grit. I've never kept Guava though!

@ Ponyfan, your aloe looks really lovely! It has a lot of character. Sages do go woody over time. I'd pick the dead leaves of. Maybe try striking some cuttings over winter. They are called cuttings but actually root better if you just tear the pieces gently off the main stem, leaving a little 'heel' of woody skin at the end. Put the cuttings in a pot of soil outside in a sheltered spot and they should root (around 2/3) and give you new plants next year).

The silvery herbs I planted in front of the house are doing well. They like the south facing wall, good drainage and protection from the lowest winter temperatures. I grew them from cuttings like above.

I bought my Mum a Daphne for Christmas, called Eternal Fragrance. It really does have a nice smell.

I planted some trees this month. Fruit trees went in last year, so just now I've planted birch trees and staghorn sumac. We have a lot of self seeded railway plants like buddlejia, evening primrose and hypericum around, being close to a railway. So rather than trying to make it too classy overall I decided to blend with other poineer species except for a few Asian species to go with the big magnolia at the back. I also decided to repeat one conifer several times and chose Juniperus communis compressa. You can use the berries in cooking and it fits with the sandy soil and mediterranean herbs.

I accidentally let the youtube roll over to a Nick Drake song yesterday and the baby loved it. She wanted to try my guitar afterwards (it hangs on the wall) and pluck the strings. Who would have thought Nick Drake...

You could try a custom cut acrylic sheet? I've ordered from here before - https://www.tapplastics.com/product/plastics/cut_to_size_plastic/acrylic_sheets_clear/508

I was just about to suggest this! Then you won't ahve to worry about it happening again. Sorry for your poor doggie too! And the inconvenience. Some days things like this can happen and completely sink my mood, so I do sympathise!

I finally have a door.  It's not like the old one, but at least it's a door.

Ponyfan

Excellent. That's a funny/sad vignette about your dad and your neighbour. I'm sorry your Dad was upset though, but glad you finally got it sorted.

for common ones would be peachy and lemon drop, I wanted them so much as a child but only had story books with them in, just so much nostalgia, love the colour combs, poses, playsets they came with :D

Hey do you still have any collection photos up anywhere? I love the way you display your ponies

That's awful I'm really sorry to hear that. I wish I could help!

I find the less housework I do the less time I spent doing hosuework  :lookround:

However, now that I'm in the huse a lot more I do appreciate it being tidy.

BOY are small children noisy!!! But it's happy noise so it's good. The point is, I got warm coffee!!!

This sounds familiar!

Just to say I went to see Grannie and Grandpa with the baby today. We went to buy presents for a couple of people who are hard to buy for. The autumn leaves are changing here. Sending lots of good wishes, especially to everyone not well at the moment.
