I always thought it was dodgy in some way so kinda just ignored it lol. Though it  makes a bit more sense with that possible explanation!

Pony Corral / Re: Wondering on some G2 prices?
« on: January 21, 2014, 06:58:28 AM »
If it helps I paid £60 for the mansion last year with both ponies and some accessories.

Thanks, it does help a bit. I've never seen one about, but then I was never looking as I was focusing on G4 mostly.

Snowball - in that condition I'd say $35-$40. I also had seen that one on ebay and for me it's seriously overpriced. If you decarded her, I'd say it would get to the $25-$30 mark - I'm estimating that on seeing Autumn on sale in only her purse and she went for $30 - though it had been some time ago.

Satin Splash - $4-$5. The earrings give her that $1 value more, but the missing plugs are a problem - it's easy to fond her mint, as she's a rather common pony.

The accessories for the tricycle twins - agree with hathorcat on their separate values, but I've seen the twins going for less, even around $15, so I'm afraid something around $35-$45 for them complete and loose is more probable.

Carriage - around $40.

Mansion - the last one I've seen, a mint and complete one, regular, went for $40. But, around a year ago I had seen one, not complete, going for $60. It depends a lot on how many people want one at the moment. I won mine few years ago, complete with the box and accessorries and paid around $40 as well.

The same goes for the castle - I got mine almost complete in a box one as a deal for around $35 from an Arena member and I got lucky with shipping, as I paid only for domestic. I sold mine castle, which wasn't complete for $16. There is one on ebay too, for $65, which I think is a bit overpriced, but it's still affordable as it's complete with a box. Again, it depends on who is looking at that particular moment, so you might get lucky and find a great deal.

Keep an eye on French and German listings on ebay and you will find tons of G2 accessories. Usually overpriced or expensive. I'm always looking at several auctions, but never bid or buy, because it's sometimes cheaper to buy pony lots with G2's and get the accessories that way. But yeah, as an European you have it easier to find and locate both the ponies and accessories :)

I didn't pay the asking price as it was OBO. I'm just annoyed the card is more damaged than indicated and so can't decide if I wanna just take the card off. I'll see how I feel over time I think - especially once I've wiped it down with a cloth and she looks a bit less grubby.

I've found other ebays to be expensive, yeah. I'm so bad at spotting g2 accessories though, lol. I'll prob give it a couple of months and then start looking again.
I guess I'll just have to save up for some shipping though as that's prob the bigger thing in most cases when getting stuff from abroad.

Thanks for the help all.

Snowball - on card still, but with three (!) price stickers in the top corner (poor love got reduced to 3.99 in the end!) and one side where it attaches to the card has some loose, though it is still attached elsewhere. No fading to pony. Little dusty. $40 probably she does not pop up for sale too often and in fact I think the last one I saw for sale had stickers in the corner as well - perhaps its the same one?

Satin Splash - both earrings still there, no other accessories, three hair plugs missing from base of mane. $7

Accessories for Rumba and Samba playpark twins - mainly their tricycles, or alternatively, a loose set with the twins and the accessories $22-25 for the twins by themselves, $22-25 for their accessories. Often a complete and loose set will run at the top end of value so I would not expect them to be less than $50 if combined.

Wedding Carriage set - with all accessories and both adult and baby pony. $50-55

Mansion is so hard to price because it so seldom comes up it could be anywhere from $40 for the shell up to $180 for it complete. It will depend on who is looking, whether its got international shipping, how much shipping is, how complete it is. Castle will be less again however it will vary from $30 to $70 depending.

Mmm, interesting. Thanks Hathorcat.
It might well be the same one (it's very weird what is going on with that seller's items....) But I paid less that the asking as it was OBO. It wasn't quite as described, but I think with that PC and my own feelings it's okay to let it go.
I was also toying with just decarding it all together and having it just in the purse. Do you think that would change the value? So it had no backcard attached, but was still as displayed in the purse.

Do G2 accessories turn up much loose? I can't off hand remember seeing any, always with a pony or just pony alone.

Yeah, I've never seen the Mansion up for sale, I figured it'd prob be an expensive one... best to just keep an eye out really for it I suppose :ninja: . I'm quite open/okay about postage prices, so I would look overseas for it, I guess it would depend on the price though.

Pony Corral / Wondering on some G2 prices?
« on: January 19, 2014, 10:02:43 AM »
Hallo,

Could anyone help me with some prices for the following G2? Some I have bought, others I am contemplating looking for.

Snowball - on card still, but with three (!) price stickers in the top corner (poor love got reduced to 3.99 in the end!) and one side where it attaches to the card has some loose, though it is still attached elsewhere. No fading to pony. Little dusty.

Satin Splash - both earrings still there, no other accessories, three hair plugs missing from base of mane.

Accessories for Rumba and Samba playpark twins - mainly their tricycles, or alternatively, a loose set with the twins and the accessories.

Wedding Carriage set - with all accessories and both adult and baby pony.

And while we're here, just for laughs at the fact I will never afford either (but it's best to start saving  ;)) the castle and the mansion (with and without accessories if possible)

Thanks all

*skips off to indulge in more G2 love* :lovey:

Pony Corral / Re: Taobao - ebay's evil twin
« on: January 14, 2014, 04:42:07 AM »
I used to be super excited to search through Taobao- hoping for a "Rarestia" or other rare prototype-  but now that so many people shop on Taobao, and given the time delay between when I can make an order and when my agent (on the other side of the world) finally wakes up and can take my order-  the chance of getting something cool or rare has become next to impossible.

So now it's a bit less exciting- although I do still like to check out the listings to see what may be coming out next.

I did also get super lucky a month or so ago with the giant Alicorn Fluttershy-  but it really was luck.  The seller had run out of giant pinkies (which I was ordering) and asked if I wanted the Giant Alicorn Fluttershy instead (for more $$ of course).  So glad I said yes!

I suffer with the time difference too... by the time I wake up my agent is almost done for the day! I have missed the odd thing because of that.

Good luck on the Alicorn Fluttershy! I would have been stoked if that had been offered to me too. I have a Rainbow Power brushable Fluttershy with the old style eyes. I missed her on Taobao but found her on ebay :P

Pony mail!  :newpony:

Regular miniponies purchased all the way from Singapore but I have me a :muffin: pony! Also jazzed by Daring Do, some rainbow mane6s, and Snips & Snails. And I have an extra Thunderlane now! Flash Sentry time! :lovey:

Jealous.... I have pony mail in the system.... but it will go to my home home, not this home :'( Just as well I have a couple of dozen ponies here to keep to company!

That Muffin Face plush.... I saw some with that same tag on UK ebay, not of her, but the mane 6 I think. I was really tempted, but I was sure they were fake.... but they were so good looking for fakes. I wonder where they come from.

Taobao used to be great but since everyone seems to be buying from there these days it's getting harder and harder to find the interesting stuff. Since that SDCC Muffin Pony post was on EQD way-back-when I've noticed that stuff moves a lot faster - heck, I had to leave my first Taobao agent because they were overwhelmed with orders. There are resellers who must spend hundreds of dollars in one go and I just can't compete with that. (Fair game. It's their money and they can do what they want, but I reserve my right to complain. :silly: ) I've also noticed fewer prototypes/factory errors turning up so maybe Hasbro have tightened up product control.

I did get my SDCC Muffin Pony from there for around $50 (sadly she was not the prototype version I wanted but the seller had run out and was using an old photo) as well as a couple of other neat things. It's also a better way to get the harder to find brushables as you're not paying eBay prices.

I cant decide with taobao if we are seeing less of the factory errors and leaks or if sellers are smarter now and put more product on ebay which combines with the resellers who must pounce on unusual looking items as soon as they are listed.

Yeah, most the stuff I see there now (and this is only within a year of looking at it) is often very usual stuff, it's not often I see something really new, or an error.
I too got Muffin face from there, as it was the only way I could really get one at a good price, I already had a parcel of some old error things (DJ Rarity, Pinkie Berry etc) so it was a great opportunity to chuck another one that I've been looking for in.

I think there is something about the "other" that has an impact though, the process of having an agent, is it going to be a one off, is it going to get to me.... it's kinda exciting and I think that probably perpetuates the need to have things. Obviously my title is somewhat tongue-in-cheek as yeah, there is a lot similar to ebay "once it's gone it's gone.... until someone else gets them" but hopefully you kinda get what I'm poking at.

Luckily I am quite a "all and then nothing" buyer in my pony habits, so I've bought a few things from ebay recently, as well as my box that has now been shipped from my agent from China, but I know I'll drop off now for a while so I'll get off the Taobao wagon.... Until that next "ohmigod!!!" moment

I wasn't sure which forum to put it in..... coz it's kinda pony pertinent as it's not in regards to buying other things from there, and that need for ponies.... but yeah maybe OT in some respects too. I'm sure someone will move it if it goes elsewhere ^_^

Or a Minty A  ;) (As if!)

Pony Corral / Taobao - ebay's evil twin
« on: January 13, 2014, 05:42:43 AM »
Okay okay, so Ebay has its flaws, but I can take Ebay or leave it, and I'm very aware of how it operates. But Taobao.... it just instills some other-ness in me that drives me to search and buy incase it's gone tomorrow and it turns out to be the super rarest thing in the world or something!
Does anyone else get this?

Sometimes it's like the name Taobao, and the picture, just makes me want to run off and try and find it. It's like... a  fear of missing out or something.

I don't obviously do anything that puts me in difficulties or anything, but especially being in the UK where some things miss us out, theres a paranoia that Taobao may be the only way to get something that I want.

I've managed to get some things that I wouldn't have got so easily elsewhere, for good prices, so I'm pleased with those. Like, I'm really excited for my happy-eyes fashion size girls doing the rounds on the other thread at the moment. But I, like many, have bought other things only for them to be released widely and be like "urgh" >_<

Like I said, everything I buy is sensible, and I am capable of paying etc etc, but I do get frustrated at myself sometimes. lol.

Obviously it's my lack of will power  :P, but I just wondered if anyone else has this love hate relationship with Taobao??
