Customs / Re: Need rehair help in hard plastic ponies
« on: November 28, 2015, 11:53:59 AM »
Bad news, i tried to take Starflower's hair, I used first boiling water to try to soft her but the plastic is so incredible hard that I was only able to take the off tail and the green section of her mane

I used long nose pliers but it was impossible for me to take the purple and the pink sections of the mane because the plastic is so stiff (even wit the boiling water) that I wasn't  able to pull the glue from the inside of the head using the pliers

I think the only solution would be to cut the rest of the mane wit shears and from the above glue a yarn like material  over the hair plugs

Thanks I think the Pretty pony ones suffer more because they have the same body and hair color but in a different shade, I remember when I realised "hey, nearly all the SHS have a single colored hair and soft colors, that's boring" lol

Well I agree that some SHS have bland or boring colors, but  if you get a a bait SHS, alt  color rehairs can improve them

Here's my rehair of a Beautybloom

The Hasbro dolls have been found on taobao in package. The packaging looks very basic so I guess these are the basic dolls. I hope there will be deluxe dolls with more articulation.

Wow Merida's head looks bigger than her torso!!

For what I have seen the Sundazzle and the Pretty pony sets are more uncommon than the others ponies in the SHS  molds , but it looks like this two sets are not too sought after?

I have seen them around priced  $10 to  $20

but if I get pilot thermal i'll have to find white hair in saran to match her hair color and somewhat in texture orz

Well, for me pilot and saran works well, the Eyelash princess in my pictures has mint ice saran and polypropylene flirtatious (the shiny pink one)

The pilot is pink to pale pink

Well I may have to go with thermal hair.. according to my friend after a while UV hair can get pretty.. nasty.. Hmm now I just need to decide on color and seller xD

I just ordered some UV hair and have yet to use it.   What do you mean by "nasty"?
I'm not sure what she exactly meant, but I guess it's in relation to the original G1 UV hair...

i agree, the G1 UV hair frizzles and gets dry like crazy, things that work in other types of hair like a hot iron, a pin comb and conditioner barely work a bit, is like the hair on old 80s/90s fakies

Pilot thermal hair however is even softer than normal saran , I don't have thermal saran so not sure in the texture

Sapphire Light, how did you de-lash Princess Royal Pink?  I'm thinking of taking the lashes off mine.  :good:

Well I used long nose pliers to take them out from the inside of the head  ^.^ ,  but first I used boiling water to soften the glue and pulled the eyelashes while the head was still soft

The glue is very strong  so you will have to be careful to prevent damage in the pony, here are some pics of the process

You could also try Pilot thermal hair from Dollyhair, I have used it in two of my alt-rehair ponies

Here's light blue to purple

Thanks for the help, I'm not sure if I'm able to get fishing line because hobby or sport fishing is very rare here, and I don't live near a coast or lake, however I use dental floss instead of thread for sewing

As for making the hair plugs bigger, do I need to soften the pony first wit hot water? since one time I tried to make wider hair plugs on a 4-Speed wit a small utility knife but the entire  hair plug line opened (in both sides) so it was like in Barbie horses and I had to use super glue when I finished
