Pony Corral / Re: mlp 80's Cupcake girls shirt, & tutu for my niece
« on: March 02, 2012, 05:12:13 PM »
Wow, such a perfectly cute outfit, what a lucky niece you have!

And that shirt! Oh man I want one in an adult size, going to have to keep an eye out at my walmart. Thanks for sharing.

New development! Turns out that the opposite side is covered in Hello Kitty, so each bag has two designs on it... Oh well, I still want them! I am told they may make a :muffin: Pony/Ditzy Do one as well.

Hm, I think it's even neater. I'm a Hello Kitty fan as well as an FiM fan. Anyone know if it's a steampunk HK design like the Rainbow Dash one is?

Sure is! The HK is steampunk as well, I can't seem to find any pics of that side though.

Oh that seems really cool! Thanks for the link too, I've been looking for something like this for a while :)

>> edit. ooh i guess they don't ship to europe :( too bad!

That's terrible, I had no idea they didn't ship internationally. I'd be more than willing to help out though and get some for you to ship, just let me know.

Pony Corral / Steampunk Rainbow Dash and Twlight bags from WLF, woo
« on: March 02, 2012, 03:36:18 PM »
Not sure if this is newsworthy or even new, if not please feel free to move/delete.

I've been saving up to buy some shirts from welovefine.com and it seems now is the time to do so! They are giving out these really neat Steampunk bags of MLP characters, only Twilight and Rainbow Dash that I know of, with purchases (I believe its if you buy 50 dollars worth). Along with two blingbag's of course.

They have some other bag options available, like hello kitty but pretty sure if you buy something MLP they will give you the right bag, still I plan on leaving a request note ;P

Pony Corral / Re: Where do you find pony bags in Goodwill?
« on: February 28, 2012, 08:15:45 PM »
It seems every Goodwill is extremely different from the last judging by these replies, I thought for the most part they at least all had toys of some kind.

We got our cities very first Goodwill only a year ago so it really hasn't proven beneficial for pony hunting yet but I've been lucky in finding plenty of G1's to G3's at other local thrift stores, sometimes sold separately or in a "pony grab bag", which is usually only 5 bucks for the entire bag.  Flea Markets seem to be the best place locally for me to find them, unfortunately due to my frequent visits some of the vendors have "wised" up and now charge above and beyond for many of the ponies they find. Examples, one lady had McD's for years for free but just last weekend I saw her selling the G3.5 McD's for five bucks a pop hah.

I've had my movie version Firefly (wrong tape in pic) since childhood and she has always been particularly harder than any other G1 I've come to own. I think this may be part of the reason why she was my childhood favorite, always hard and tough :P

Eep, everyone has such cute animals, all cuddly with "their" ponies :3

Unfortunately my dogs are not amused by ponies whatsoever...

Though they're pretty good about keeping me company while I clean them <3

Pony Corral / Re: Who are the "Oldie Moldies"?
« on: February 22, 2012, 12:31:47 AM »
I've never really not collected ponies, although I guess I started to consider myself a collector in the late 90s, around age 12, when I started finding lots at yard sales, thrift stores, flea markets, etc.

However, I had no idea the Arena existed or that there were so many other MLP fans until late 2009 when a friend directed me here. So...old to collecting, new to the fan community.

This is eerily similar to my story! I technically began to collect when I was 12 as well, that's when I began searching for MLP's at stores and markets on my own.  I've always technically collected, MLP's were basically the only toy I would keep from age 3 and up.  Ohohoho I pitied the poor child who brought me a "fakie" at birthdays, I have some rudely disturbing pics of me tossing some in a pool at my fourth birthday...

I only found the online pony community in 2006 and just lurked. Till then...I had NO idea any of you existed... Admittedly it was a emotional discovery for me. I had been hiding my love for ponies my entire life, even had a secret room where they were displayed growing up so friends wouldn't see.  You wouldn't know the username unless you played a lot of fps games growing up, I've kept the same tag since I was about 11. Small world though, when I moved to the state I managed to buy an excellent lot from someone locally who had been collecting their whole life as well, we meet for a drink for the exchange and are still friends :>

Pony Corral / Re: US Blind Bag Release Index- Where have they been found?
« on: February 11, 2012, 08:18:40 PM »
Found some while visiting a friend in Leeland, NC, however none in Columbia, SC. I've checked 5 walmarts like 6 times now :(

I really do not understand the fascination or obsession with Trixie, if anything I thought she'd be the last pony to be considered in the G4 line (despite her pretty design) but alas that is another direct influence by the bronies. Glad to see Princess Celestia white, an accurate Nightmare moon and a Glow in the Dark Zecora, how exciting and fun! However I extremely dislike that Vinyl Scratch is officially known now by Hasbro as DJ Pon-3 because it's a stupid name imo, and she wasn't a prominent character in the show whatsoever. It is hard to deny that Hasbro seems to be directly catering to the brony fanbase, though perhaps we should view this as a tool to be utilized, afterall we do want many of the same things. To be elitist and say that we deserve to be the voice of MLP is unjust however...I understand and feel the sting, have we not been the most loyal of fans? Still, it's our continued support along with the bronies that allows MLP to thrive thus securing the future of MLP for everyone. I look forward to seeing more characters from the show brought to "life" and can't wait to get my hands on that Nightmare Moon!

I love the G4's but my primary interest for collecting them has been entirely founded from the show. They'll prove to be great investments in the future as this new and rising fandom (bronies and "classic collectors" alike) revitalizes and secures the MLP market.  Asides from that, I simply find the G3 style and mold to be far more aesthetic than the G4's and resonating more with the G1's I grew up with and loved.

A pro of changing to G4: all of the G3 fair/comic con ponies already out or collected would increase in value about 17 percent with each passing year.

The con: all the G3 fair/comic con ponies would be more expensive for those who don't already own most of them. Secondly, no more G3 fair/comic con ponies! :(

Pony Corral / Re: What pony do you regret selling?
« on: January 29, 2012, 05:12:06 PM »
I sold all my original G2's on the arena some time ago, I bought them in Argentina when I was 11 but I stored them away though for nearly 7 years so I thought it'd be no big deal to sell, I regretted it the moment I parted with them, was even worse when I found all the accessories to them a few months later! :p
