Pony Corral / Re: Where to buy tinsel for rerooting?

Thanks so much!! I managed to find some here, in case anyone was wondering!

I only watch the show casually and I don't even collect g4 ponies, but I LOVE these minis!!! They're just so cute and full of personality, and their articulated joints are great. I'm glad they're getting rid of the old dolls, they just all looked so lifeless and generic :p and now they even come with stands!! I really should get a stand for my Pinkie. She's kind of just awkwardly slouched in the corner of my shelf so she doesn't fall. ;v;

I told myself I'd only get Pinkie because she's my favorite, but gosh... these are all so CUTE..... I'm glad they're expanding from the mane 6 too, wouldn't a Discord mini be awesome?? <3

I'm going to reroot a couple of G3 ponies whose pink has faded, but I can't find any tinsel! There isn't any on dollyhair.com. Does anyone know where I can find some? Thanks!!

Pony Corral / Re: Dry, stubborn frizz?

A lot of people use flat irons on low heat to straighten tinsel and hair. It has to be wet and covered in conditioner. Most people swear by it. There should be a tutorial for it.

I tried it once on a fakie and melted the hair, but the hair was really poor quality and the flat iron I used didn't have a low setting.

I prefer to use a hand held steam cleaner with a tiny jet nozzle. It wont straighten tinsel as its not hot enough. I use lots of conditioner, a round bristle brush and slowly spin the brush as I steam it. It doesn't get hot enough to melt the hair. Ive also used it to (boil) steam perm. Do Not use it on a so soft as it will take the fur right off.
When I`m done I like to lay the hair out flat and lay something heavy on the hair, like a phone book. Just in case there are some wild hairs that want to go kinky.

that's extremely helpful, thank you!! I'll try that when I get home :)

Pony Corral / Re: Head-knocker Sundance? + Ponies on display in cars?
« on: September 12, 2016, 10:41:18 AM »
When I was with my grandma she bought me an Equestria Girls Mini from Target, and then I left it in the car (out of direct sunlight, even) to go into another store. When I came back she was sticky and smelled very strongly ;v; (but she was okay once she cooled down!)

It's probably not a good idea, especially in Australia!

Pony Corral / Dry, stubborn frizz?
« on: September 12, 2016, 10:38:16 AM »
So I have a few ponies that have frizz I just wasn't able to remove (particularly a g3 Minty with tinsel - I've noticed tinsel hair in poor condition is always dry and hard to tame!), and was wondering if any of you had encountered similar problems? I've tried conditioner, boiling, everything, but their hair still remains dry and very frizzy, even though it looks relatively tame. Is there anything that can be done about this, or should I just braid her hair and call it a day? thank you!!

Just so you know, Pang-jus are not Pullips :) Pullip is a type of doll, not the the name of the company who makes Pullip & Co. You might get more interest by advertising him as a Pang-ju BJD, not a Pullip. Pullips aren't BJDs so people interested in only Pullips wouldn't be interested in this type of doll and people looking for only BJDs might not click on the thread.

oh, thanks so much for telling me!!

There are usually some Pullips at my Tuesday Morning. If you'll pay for the doll and the shipping and everything I could get one for you?

hello!! So I have a BJD that I'm looking to trade.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

The reason I'm trading him is because he was my first BJD but he really wasn't what I was looking for, and I'd like a larger, more poseable doll :)

Mine is in relatively good condition, I'll post pictures when I get home. I have his box and all of his accessories; however, both of the clear elastic straps on the back of his shoes are broken (I somehow managed to break both of them while trying to get his shoes on for the first time ;v;). They can stay on his feet alright, though sometimes they look a little odd, and I would recommend not taking them off ever because they are nearly impossible to put back on. Also, one end of the elastic is still attached to the shoe, so maybe they're still salvageable?

As the title says, I'm looking for Parabox, Azone, Obitsu, and similar brands! I'd prefer a doll with at least eyes and a faceup, since my doll has eyes, a faceup, and a full outfit. I'm not looking to trade for other Pullips, AI dolls, or Blythe dolls, sorry!
If you have a Clipper (pony) though, that's an auto-accept. Clipper is my grail!

Thanks so much for reading!! <3

Pony Corral / hair frizzy just at the ends?
« on: May 22, 2016, 05:35:41 PM »
hey! I've had this problem with a few ponies now and I usually just put their hair in a braid and be done with it, but one girl I recently got has it really bad (g3 Minty with tinsel). I can generally get rid of most frizz on other ponies, even the 2008 McD ones who have poor quality hair, by brushing them out with shampoo and sometimes boiling water if it's bad. But for Minty I've tried everything, including using a straightener, but her hair is still just so coarse and incredibly frizzy right at the tips. What do you do when you get a pony like this? Is there some sort of technique for fixing it that I just don't know about? Also, why is it just the tips that I can't get the frizz out?  Thanks so much <3

Pony Corral / Re: Kids "helping" their blankflank ponies

I found a fakie in a bag of MLPs who had a single little braid in her hair. I had to take it out to get her all shampooed and brushed but I put it back in afterwards in the same place and added a few of my own!

so I'm not all that experienced or anything, but in my opinion, g1 is the best, followed by gs 2 and 3 (I like them both equally!) I'm too young to have experienced gs 1 and 2, and all my childhood ponies were g3, but anyway here are my opinions pretty much purely based on aesthetics.

G1: There's just something so magical about g1s! maybe it's because i love retro things, but i agree with other people who have posted talking about the care and detail that went into g1s!! They're just so magical, there's so much variety and the toys are just adorable. You don't really see that kind of style of toy anymore, you know? Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, because things go in and out of style and times change, but it seems right now that the focus in toys is making everything chibi, sleek, and cute (which I like, but there's hardly any variety in terms of style/aesthetics now!) Don't g1s just seem so elegant and gentle in contrast? anyway, i love them :)

G2: I don't know much about g2 because no one seems to talk about them, but i think they're cute enough! they still kinda have that elegant feel, and while I certainly don't think they're as cute as g1s (the're much more horse-like than pony-like), they're nice enough and i have a few of them on my wishlist.

G3: actually pretty similar to g1 i think!! however, i don't like them quite as much just because they're lacking that retro aspect/feel hehehe. very cute, kind of a more sleek, shiny feel compared to g1s, but they're definitely some quality toys!!

G3.5: i dont think anyone likes these to be honest?? they've always just seemed... so strange to me. they feel weirdly lumpy you know?? and disproportionate, even though they're supposed to be that way, they just seem too disproportionate, idk. (especially their heads, they seem so out of place on that body)

G4: the show is pretty okay, but it's kind of hard to get into the mainstream g4 fandom without being really creeped out really quickly, you know?? but since I'm just talking about the toys here, and I don't really like this gen toy-wise. mainly because i like when there's a wide variety of different characters, like what's been done in all previous gens. with this gen i feel like they're pretty much releasing the 6 same figures over and over just with (sometimes minor) variations. sure, occasionally they'll release like one background character or something, but it really just isn't the same.,,, i also wish they would release any actual alternate poses! (and if you REALLY want me to nitpick, i think their eyes are a bit too low on their head! it bothers me!!) anyway, i have a few g4s that i got as gifts and they're okay, but they're really just not my favorite.

those are just my opinions though!!

gosh i we get more minis! The minis are so cute and full of character while there's just something about the eq dolls that rubs me the wrong way!! just in my opinion, it feels like all the eq dolls have the exact same face and expression, and often times just don't feel like the character the doll is supposed to be to me. but i feel like the minis are really good representations of the characters and they're really cute! plus they all have different expressions :)
