Home Depot sells pure acetone. Most pharmacies/medical supply stores would have forceps. You can even try the first aid section of your drug store.

Pony Corral / Re: Pony purchase regrets?

I have been only collecting since November of 2012, and I have so far had no regrets... except one.

In September I paid my local comic book store a visit, they had a box of older-gen ponies that were collecting dust pretty much. I decided to take a look inside that box was and there was a long blonde-haired pink pony... It was a Rapunzel!!! I didn't know what I had in my paws at the time, so I just put her back in the box...they ended up throwing the box out the next week because nobody was buying them.

^^^^^I just died a little inside reading this^^^^^

I have one for ya! The year before last I was Christmas shopping with my "frenemy" and her 3 yr old daughter. We were at Wal-Mart and she was pushing her shopping cart in the aisle and was directly in front of me. Her daughter was waking around picking up stuff and I stopped in front of the MLP section, saw ONE FS Applejack sitting on the shelf right at the end of my cart- just out of reach. I muttered "Yes!!!! They have AJ!" which naturally got her child's attention- and, as if in slow motion, as I was desperately trying to get in front of my own cart to grab the coveted toy, her daughter SOMEHOW slinks in between both of our wagons, grabs AJ, and shows her mom, who casually tosses her in her wagon. Arghhhh! A couple days later, I even texted her to ask if she wouldn't mind trading that AJ for a Rarity (I had 2 of them!) or a Fluttershy. She said "No thanks, AJ is the ONE pony she doesn't have." I have a hard time liking that kid to this day. Just kidding. I have no grudge against that kid. I have a hard time liking HER MOTHER after that!

Oh thats a shame :(

Have you looked inside her? In case it is something staining through. It almost looks like regrind or a plastic breakdown due to the pigments. Neither of which are fixable but in case it is ink or something on the surface I would have recommended a clean out inside and then a sunfade. Unfortunately that hair colour is not color fast so you cant really boil her in water let alone oxi.

Hey Hathorcat- you might be right about it being a pigment breakdown issue. I already popped her head off and looked inside- she's a lovely bright blue inside and no mold at all.
I want to rehair her, but I don't know where to start.  I need hair and a reroot tool and there just seems to be an overwhelming amount of options out there! I wish there was a rehair started kit for newbies- you just pick the hair color. Lol.

Hon, you can rehair her. Don't give up. Its easy and you can use donor hair from her tail to fix it.

I fried her hair mane right near the roots, so It's all falling right off. I don't think her tail will provide me w/enough for her mane. But maybe I will throw her in my rehair pile for when I get the courage to try rehairing....

Ok, looked around some more- definitely not Filly Princess. However, I *did* see something similar called "Pony In My Pocket". I think that could be what you have there....

UGHHHHH!!! Well, guess I'm not sun fading her after all- I went to iron her forelock and someone had turned up the heat to HIGH and I basically FRIED her luxurious, otherwise silky mane. Oh, and the person who turned up the heat was ME- not paying attention!

Anyone want a baity MGR Brilliant Blossoms??? :(

Try a good surface scrub with soap and water?  Then carefully try some acetone on spots that aren't painted. If it doesn't look ingrained then I'd pass on the oxy. (I'm not a big fan of the stuff. Not totally sure if yellow hair like that would bleed.) You may just be looking at a sunfade.

Yeah, I tried acetone on her forehead- nothing!

She's really dingy and dull colored, also. I think I remember reading that Oxy can help brighten their color...I just can't find the link with all the cleaning tutorials. It used to be pinned at the top of the Pony Corral forum, but it's not there. Looked in the Customs forum, not their either.
 Attaching pics shortly...

Pony Corral / Cleaing MGR Ponies

I have a very grubby MGR Brilliant Blossoms that I need to clean. The problem is, she seems to have a splattering of small, blue dots all over her face and body. I would say they are mold, but they actually look more like ink bc they are a darker blue color?
I can't find the tutorials about soaking blue ponies in Oxyclean, and I'm not sure what to do about her MGR saddle? She also has yellow hair that I'm worried about fading.

So: 1) Can I soak BLUE ponies in warm Oxyclean?  It's winter and FREEZING outside, so I thinking that sunfading might not work well, but if I need to, 2) Can I sunfade in a peroxide bath if I cover the hair? Will the saddle paint fade, ya think?

Thanks!

I'm almost 40 years old, married with 2 daughters, and yes- I get happy looking at my collection! Unfortunately, mine are all in storage bins that are NOT see-through. I'm just waiting on my hubby to start making me some display cases for them all. In the meantime, I sit on my living room floor, take out the individually baggied ponies, and line them all up on the floor, while my husband stares at me in a kind of bemused-yet-confused way. I really wish I could have them all out on display, though! You would never know I collect MLP's by looking at me. I'm a regular, young-at-heart mom who shops at The Gap and Kohl's and loves house/dance music, lol! Guess we pony collectors are a very eclectic group! (sorry if I got off-topic a bit)
