I visited my parents today and pulled out one of my old storage boxes - inside was my beloved Gypsy!
I showed my young (G4-aware) daughter and I think she appreciated her 

Oooh! I need to look out for these - our local Entertainer looked a wreck when I went there a few days ago (panic buyers for Christmas leaving the shelves a mess!)

What a great find and well done on restoring her - she looks so pretty 

It's so satisfying when you get to put the final finishing-touch ribbon on the tail.

Now... have you caught the restoration bug? Will you be on the look-out for more ponies to revive? It's addictive! 

Gypsy is among some of my fave G1 ponies - I remember buying her with my earnestly-saved pocket money from the little toy/stationery shop next door to the big Waitrose that my Mum did her shopping at... (I miss that toy shop - it is a coffee shop now!) 

She is *very* pretty in-person. Her white freckles, purple glitter tambourines - a sweet contrast to her orange hair/body.

Oh yes, and the MLP comics (bought at that exact same store, too!)

Many years ago, I remember walking around the bootsales local to me and practically falling over G1s, Stables, plastic Carebears etc, but of course, I was not collecting then! 

These days, there is deffo a G1 drought. I collect vintage rhinestone jewellery, so I am always on the hunt for pretties. This summer, during a bootsale browse, my husband called me to say he saw some hiding in a box under a seller table, so I went over to see: just a Posey, Blossom and a few fakies - the G1s were bought (seller wanted £4 each but I thought "oh well, bird in hand" etc) it was such a surprise to see them that I had to buy them! 

I still visit our local Oxfam charity store as the lady there sometimes has a glut of toys - usually collections of Bratz or Disney princesses - I think she stockpiles her donations and saves them for a big display every few months. She doesn't seem to let-on that she has them until she puts them on display, maybe she is fed up with dealers bothering her! I have seen the odd pony there, but not G1 (yet) and because I don't collect the other gens, I do not really notice them.   

They're actually bits of these huge straws we had lying around the house! They're super nifty for making those huge curls!

A really excellent idea too - I am SO going to give those a try! 
I have seen these jumbo straws on sale in the UK in the 99p stores - now I know what to do with them!
