New Look singles showing up in Canada

Went to TRU today looking for wave three of the sparkle ponies but instead I found the first wave of the new look ponies on card (Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, Pinkie, and Lyra). They were $5.99 each. I'm in Ottawa Canada (Merivale TRU for you locals).

I cant believe that they are already showing up. I thought that they were just going to be prototypes or something, anyway, I guess we should say goodbye to the old mold.

I figured they wouldn't be in stores until closer to the movie release date. I do wonder if they are completely replacing the old brushables pose.

i will visit TRU this week and report on whether or not we have them in western canada too : ) hoping to snag rarity!

Oooo, I'm super excited to see these in person.  There isn't really a TRU near me anymore unfortunately, but hopefully they'll turn up in Walmart or Target soon.  I think the faces looks cute in pictures.

I don't like them at all. I'm going to hope they'll use the new molds alongside the old ones but doubt it somehow.

I'm not sure how I feel about them yet. lol. I guess it was only a matter of time before we ended up with a G4.5

It's nice they have more pose variety. They look too cartoony for me though. But my opinion is way less important than the opinion of the kids who Hasbro want to buy them, so I guess that'll decide if they succeed or not.

I think they'd have done better loosening up the poses on the existing ponies and cutting out rereleasing the core 6 every line (maybe 1 character per line would have been enough). But that's just the view of a G1 collector coming through.

Thanks for the link.   Hmmm.  Not sure if I like these.  They look overly round at their knees.  Muzzles too pointed upwards for a horse.  If kids like them though, I'm all for that if it keeps them wanting ponies.

Found them in Calgary a few days ago.

I showed them to my daughter to see what their target demographic thinks and she thinks their heads look funny, lol.

Ehh...

I really don't care for them. They remind of when G3 transitioned to G3.5. I honestly wish they gave us more ponies than the main 6 of the original brushables. I don't know if I'll buy these to be honest. Kind of makes me sad as I just got back into collecting after a 4 year break.

Maybe this is a sign that G5 is coming in a few years? I hope the ponies go up in size, or go closer to a g2 model. I loved the g2s.
