Price Check Archives / PC and Question About Playset Boxes
« on: January 13, 2016, 09:03:26 AM »
Hopefully some playset experts can help me out! One of my collection goals is to have all the playsets complete with their boxes and instructions. I have quite a few complete already but most were bought already complete. I have a few loose ones so I was wondering how often just the boxes or instructions come up for sale without the playsets and about how much I should pay for them. Off the top of my head I know I need the Pretty Parlor and Bathtub boxes but there may be others.

Welcome to the arena! I can't help with the ponies in the first photo but in the second photo starting at the top right they are:
Mommy Sweet Celebrations, Posey, Tickle, Trickles, Applejack, Banana Surprise, Bonnie Bonnets, Minty, Dancing Butterflies, Pretty Vision, Brilliant Bloom, Sugarberry, Bowtie and Seashell.

Third photo is:
Tootsie, Shoreline, Applejack, Fifi, Skydancer, Sparkler, Windy, Princess Tiffany, Parasol, Glittering Gem, Firefly, Parasol, Fif, Tic Tac Toe, and Seabreeze.

4th Photo is the dance and prance set, Tap Dancer, Twinkler, DJ, and Twinkler.

5th pic is Baby Moondancer, Baby Surprise, Speckles, Puddles, Christmas Baby Pony, Dangles, Jangles, Squirmy, Spunky, Kingsley, Surf Rider, Zig Zag, Pockets, and a Fairy Tail Bird.

6th pic the large white pony is a soft and sleepy newborn named Hushabye and they can be worth quite a bit. The smaller playset is the Poof and Puff Perfume Palace and the large one is the Paradise Estate which is the largest playset ever made for ponies and thus pretty pricy.

Hope that was helpful! You've got some good stuff! Hopefully someone can give you some accurate values for them!

Having to get creative when storing things you don't use very often because your collection takes up the whole basement!

Never being able to sleep in on a Sunday because you MUST go pony hunting.

Thanks for the replies everyone. She messaged me late last night and said she's "been advised to open a dispute" but I haven't gotten any notification of a case being filed yet. I've got all our messages saved if she does open a case. Hopefully everything turns out ok! Lygeia it's so cool to see another pyrex addict around!

Thanks for the reassurance guys. I basically told her that I'm sorry the bowl wasn't what she hoped but I can't refund her just because her assumption turned out to be wrong. Lygeia it says in my listing that I don't accept returns so I think I'm ok on that front. But I agree she should just keep it and sell it to get her money back. I'm just nervous because I'm bad at saying no/standing my ground so this is very stressful for me.

Recently I started selling on eBay again and I've encountered my first problem as a seller.

In addition to ponies I also collect vintage pink pyrex. I picked up a bowl in orange on a whim at a thrift store because it seemed to sell well. I listed the bowl for $40 based on completed auctions but never made any assumptions as to what set it belonged to. A buyer messaged me and we got to chatting. She believed the bowl was a set completer for her but I assured her I didn't know what set it belonged to as I don't collect that color. Eventually she made an offer that was a lot lower than my asking price, $15 to be exact. I accepted it because she seemed nice and it was still a decent profit for me. When the bowl arrived she messaged me because it isn't the bowl she thought it was and thus doesn't complete her set. Now she's asking for a refund and I'm not sure what to do. I understand her frustration, but at the same time she made an assumption and it turned out to be wrong.

Tl;dr: is it fair to ask for a refund when your assumption about a purchase turns out to be wrong?

I bought a MPP with her box and most of her accessories last year. The ribbons were in super rough shape but I'm almost positive there was a red one, about twice the thickness of a regualr g1 ribbon. I can't be sure on the others though, and I'm not a home right now. I'm sure someone will have them though. I agree that the yellow one is probably a faded peach one.

I've bought her at the Target in our mall last month here in CT. She hasn't shown up at any other Targets, Toys R Us, or our Wal Mart yet though

I wish I had the confidence that most of you seem to have about pony shopping! If cashiers ever say anything I always say "oh yeah, it's my niece's birthday this weekend! I hope she doesn't already have these!" and I always make sure to get a gift receipt even if they don't say anything. Seriously my imaginary niece has a great life! It's her birthday almost every weekend and she always gets all the new pony stuff haha!

You know you have too many ponies when you see a giant lot of 200+ ponies on eBay and you don't need ANY of them! It seems my dream of a giant box of pony goodness will never come true at this point haha!

Luckily I don't think I've ever gotten a bad response when talking about my collection! It's usually a lot of shocked expressions and ooooohs and ahhhhs when people see it in person. When I had a pony room my extended family always wanted to see what was new and how much it had grown since the last time. My favorite was when little kids would see it! I had a much younger cousin and some girls I babysat for see it a few times and they were just in awe! As others have said, I'm not too shy with my collection and if someone has a problem with it or is a downer about it then maybe it's time to reexamine the relationship.

I'm currently writing an accessory guide for myself. I'm almost done with the index but it's sooo much work!

As others have said the Billy bookcases from Ikea are the nicest in my opinion. I think they even have corner ones to maximize your display space. I've always wanted a pony spa area too! Maybe something like a camping sink that's self contained and doesn't use a lot of water? It could prevent any flooding problems. You'll definitely want something with drawers too! I like to use the ones with the fabric drawers they have at target but depending on how much you need to store you may need an actual dresser. If you're OCD with checklists and labels like I am you'll probably want a desk or a table too. Congratulations and good luck!!! I can't wait to see it all finished!
