Pony Corral / Re: Elusive 2011 Pinkie Pie Ornament Re-Run for 2012?

Wow, how did I miss her last year? She is so cute :) I was thinking about just buying duplicate G4 ponies of the main 6 and turning them into ornaments for the tree this year. They are small enough that I think it would work :)

Oddly enough- this has happened to me.  It was for like $2.33 that was owing on the package (the sender didn't put enough postage on I guess)

lol..maybe it is a Western Washington thing ;)

I do see what you are saying Elisto, it just made my face sad that that's the first thought that comes to mind.  I mean, I just figured she was kind of a jerk or one of those 'you are too old for this' kinds of moms.  I didn't mean to stir up trouble or anything, just wanted to voice that it hurt my feeling a bit in case HavACrumpet452 didn't realize that it could be taken as somewhat hurtful (accidentally I'm sure I know they weren't trying to make any kind of commentary on the subject).

Don't feel bad Sarahlacewing, my feelings were hurt too. The topic was about not making assumptions and stereotyping and then an assumption and stereotype was thrown out. I am a Christian, my kids come from a Christian home but we do not promote stereotyping or judging at all in my house. In fact, my very Christian son has MANY piercings lol. Anyway, still sad that the mom was forcing the girl to part with her ponies. That is so lame :( I would be thrilled if my daughter plays with and collects ponies for a long time. I am in no hurry for her to grow up :)

I absolutely get like this. It was one of the reasons I sold off my entire G1 collection. At the height of my craziness I had over 2000 ponies. I went from loving them to hating them because it had just gotten out of control. Once my twins were born and I needed the room it gave me a good reason to clear out the ponies. I have never once felt sad about it. Well...a little about selling my MOC Blue Medley, that hurt a bit but other then that I am pleased to be free of the addiction (ha ha). Now I am having fun again with ponies. My daughter and I are loving the G4s and we have quite a collection of American Girl dolls as well. I took most of my strawberry shortcake and Care Bear stuff and dropped it at the thrift store though. I didn't want to deal with the hassle of selling and shipping it. So yep, totally understand where you are coming from!

In my office we send out a lot of catalogs at a discounted bulk mail rate, so if they get returned to us with a bad address, we get those notices that we owe money for each return (because the discounted rate only applies to sending them out, not getting them back).

It's kinda up to the individual post offices whether or not they're going to crack down on that type of thing. My mail delivery girl explained the whole thing to me. They have to sign a sheet before they leave for their delivery route saying they're aware of the postage due items. IF her manager at the post office decided to be a stickler about it, and she didn't have the money from the home when she returned from her route, it would have to come out of her own pocket. But usually if it's just a few cents they don't really care, so they'll leave the envelope/package even if it says 'postage due' on it, and they'll either get the money next time they see you, or forget about the whole thing.

However, I have never heard of $8 underpaid on a package! o.0 20 cents, sure, but $8? Geez. It's much more likely in that situation that they would have returned it to sender with insufficient postage rather than choose to deliver it with that 'postage due' option (but again, that kinda is up to the individual post office how they're going to handle the situation).

My guess is, as RockinPrettyBeets said, this guy was a newbie and messed up, lost the paperwork or something. When he realized he would have to pay himself, he went back to your house to try to get the money. But then again, maybe he was just confused or just trying to pull something, so good job sticking to your guns without proof! If he did mess up and have to pay, it would be a good lesson to remind him never to lose the paperwork again.

I think you are right on with this. I actually went back to the site I bought the item from as it had been a backordered item originally. I saw that it had our old delivery address on it (we just moved 2 months ago). I didn't notice this when it was delivered. It must have gotten forwarded from our other address rather than be sent back to the store. That would make sense. Now I feel bad as it was a legitimate amount that I owed. I was just so floored that this guy came back multiple times because he just couldn't get it right. He is a bit odd anyway...my husband had a run in with him when we first moved in. We left the mail in our mailbox for 3 days. We just forgot to go out and get it because we were busy. He brought it to our door and scolded my husband for not getting the mail out lol. I guess we are not off to a good start with this mailman..eek!

I just had to share this really strange encounter with my mailman. He came to our door on Monday to deliver three packages (one which was an awesome proto Ploomette from So Silver, whoo hoo! :) Anyway, one of the packages was something I ordered from an online toy store. He hands me the packages and leaves. Well...later that afternoon he shows back up telling me that I was supposed to sign for one of the packages and he forgot to have me do that. Uhmmm...ok...a little too late but sure, why not. I sign and he leaves again. Well yesterday he shows up at my door again. This time he tells me that he forgot that the bigger package (from the online store) had postage due on it. He said it was about $8 dollars  We then stand there staring at each other for a few minutes before I say "do you have a form that says that?" He just looks at me and says "no, it was on the box, do you still have it?" Well, I didn't have it anymore because as soon as a nice sized box comes in the house I use it to ship ebay items in it and my husband had already sent packages out early yesterday morning. I didn't see anything on the box saying I owed money. I told him "I will gladly pay you if you show me a form and then I will give it to you as a check". He said again that he didn't have any form, and then he just stood there.   *chirp* I told him that I wasn't going to just hand him over $8 dollars cash on good faith. So he said, "well, ok, I guess we will have to forget it then"

WHAT...WAS...THAT!? First, why would I owe shipping when I paid it online already? Second, who does that? Sooooooo Awkward! Anyway, had to share that bizarre enounter with someone lol...

I feel your pain. Many buyers not only don't read but they expect your to teleport the item to them when the listing ends. It astounds me that there are people starving in many parts of the world but it is a matter of life and death here in the U.S. if someone does not get their toy immediately lol. I guess the economy can't be too bad. Hopefully that buyer doesn't turn out to be too much of a pain.

« on: August 29, 2012, 08:50:27 PM »
I saw them at the Seattle downtown Target 2-3 weeks ago- but I went back to get them and they were gone.  However, there is still a place for them to be so I suspect they just keep getting sold out (and probably the store didn't order a lot)  I got tired of waiting so ordered online.

However- Target FINALLY does have all of the little brushables in stock- including Trixie and Lyra - or at least it did this morning.

What??? Really??? I am so excited! I have been waiting for Lyra forever! Is it the Seattle Target you saw them at? Was it the one in Northgate? I may need to head into Seattle tomorrow as the Lynnwood store still doesn't have them. I haven't seen the Luna set at any of my local Targets either. I just ordered it online a while back since I had free shipping. It is a fantastic set, my daughter loves their sparkley wings :)

Pony Corral / Re: Is it worth it to order these from TRU?
« on: August 29, 2012, 08:46:42 PM »
my TRU just restocked these, so you might want to hang on.... but I know I waited/hunted forever to find fluttershy... sweetiebelle was easy.

My TRU restocked them too. Which just floors me because for months now the only thing on the shelf was the main part of the train and I couldn't find these cars anywhere. I had to eventually order them online to complete my daughter's set. Then, as soon as the entire set is released for 39.99 then TRU puts not only that set out but the individual cars out along with it..I mean...huh?? Lol, TRU doesn't make a ton of sense sometimes...

That is a fairly normal price. I sold mine with her shell and combs for around $230ish a few years back.

I think you are safe. The complete train set just came out so my hunch is more people will be snagging that as a set as it turns out to be cheaper then buying all the parts separately.

I actually had this happen once. Ebay kept glitching on the pay screen that links over to paypal regardless of how many times I tried over 3 days. It only worked when I sent it directly to an email address. It was so strange...

Pony Corral / Re: Want this Walmart pony display!
« on: August 27, 2012, 07:11:46 AM »
I was going to second that store displays can't be kept :( I remember a guy in TRU telling me that all of the great stand ups, cut outs, etc. had to be tossed in the trash because of copy right and the like. My son works at Lego and said the same thing regarding displays there. He even said that if someone returns a lego set that has been opened the staff can't keep it, that it goes straight into the trash even if all the pieces are there. I remember the good ol' days when I was a kid, most places would gladly put your name down for something like that and call you to pick it up when they were done with it. My dad got so many things that way. I think with ebay came concerns about selling on the secondary market. Such a bummer...

This seller is fantastic, I am sure they will send it to you. I had a mix up with them a couple months ago and they were more than accomodating. I have bought from them numerous times and they have been great. Just tell them you want the pony that is in the auction picture. They will send it I am sure.
