And to add to the points made by others, many G1 ponies are prone to plastic breakdown and other quality issues, so in many cases it is unavoidable. The pony you bought as mint/near mint several years ago may not be so minty when you unpack her from storage. I’ve been (re) collecting for about 20 years now and ponies that I originally bought as mint/nm have not all stayed that way. Many of my twinkle eye ponies for example have spots or plasticizer breakdown that has just shown up recently.
And to agree with another point, fixing up and restoring ponies who have had a rough life and aren’t in the best of shape in my opinion can be a lot of fun and you get the bonus of having done the work yourself. For me that gives me a greater attachment to them. For example, I have several ponies that I bought with severe haircuts just so I could replace their hair and I don’t think I will ever try to upgrade them because I adore them. They don’t always display as great as ponies in original good condition but that just makes them different and I’m ok with that.

I am usually a fairly picky collector, but some of my most treasured ponies are original from when I was little and admittedly don’t display well. But when I thought about buying those same ponies in better shape to upgrade my collection I realized I wouldn’t love them near as much as the memories wouldn’t be there. Instead, I decided to try to find all my original ponies MIB or MOC so I can have my originals in their so-so condition to remember all the fun times I had with them as a child, but also the mint on card/box version to preserve my memory of first receiving them and all their awesome accessories. So for example, now I have a Sweet Pop with faded hair and some cancer spots, but I also have her on US and Canadian cards just as I remember picking her out at Toys R Us. And to me that is the best of both worlds, so to speak. Nicole

My main collection is G1 ponies, but my second most-loved collection is vintage Pyrex bowls and kitchenware. I have a lot of pieces, I really need to find a mid-century hutch to display them all!

Hello! I just need 53 ponies to complete my US collection, can you help me?
All the ponies I am missing are from Years 6-10. Seeking some so soft upgrades too.
Please note I am a little picky: no haircuts please, or major marks. Fading pink hair must be at least a little pink and color change hair must be in good shape. If it’s a pony with a mechanism like happy tails, I don’t mind if it’s not working as long as it is disclosed before purchasing.
Mail order: Rapunzel Dabbles Pearly baby Firefly

I am just one pony short of having all the regular issue (non-variant) French ponies (3 in the mail), so that is top of my list. Shortly after that would be completing the regular issue Italian ponies, though I have to find a complete listing so I can see who I am missing. And I would also like to get Brazilian baby Gusty as I am pretty sure she is the last Brazilian baby I need. Nicole

Two major wants I am actively seeking: will purchase outright or trade So Soft Crumpet in good + condition. Preferred with minimal rubs/stains to flocking and hair uncut (frizzed is ok, minor trim ok depending on location). I have a mostly deflocked Crumpet I could put towards a trade if interested, obviously as partial payment plus $ or with other ponies or htf accessories added. Baby Firefly Stickle MOC. Last one I need to complete my Stickles collection. I have an extra Sparkler MOC to trade, or several loose Stickles I would trade in a group in exchange for her MOC as well as other ponies or accessories to offer. Please PM if interested. Thank you! Nicole

This is beautiful! Awesome inspiration too. I need to reorganize my collection.
Can I ask what type of risers you use to display your rows of ponies?

Hello, this may be a long shot but I am looking to trade one of my MOC Stickles or some of my loose Stickles for the last one I need, a MOC baby Firefly stickle. I have the following loose ones to trade, will trade several loose for the one I need.
Trade: MOC: Sparkler (some wear on legs) Moondancer (some wear on legs, hair messy)
Loose: Baby Glory (no backing, magnet on back) Baby Firefly (damage to one leg and near symbol, no backing) Surprise (has backing, a little glue on one hoof) Lickety Split (has backing) Bow tie (no backing) Heart Throb (no backing, few marks on body and ribbon color aged)
Please message me if you’re interested in a trade, and give me a few days to reply as I’m working a lot. Thank you!

My best finds in the wild:
Italian Polly (white body, pink hair and hearts) for $3 tops the list. I walked away from that table (antique fair) in a daze. She had a pink saddle on and some part of an outfit so it wasn't immediately noticeable that she was a non-US pony, let alone one that was so special. I thought she was a faded Peachy at first.
My other more memorable finds were Hollywood, Munchy, Yum Yum, Taffeta and Pristina for $3-4 each, and a good bundle of accessories in a big ziploc bag for $6 (assorted big brother, twin and princess accessories).
My best online finds? Probably lavender Woosie MIB, I think I paid $80 or so? Otherwise I would say most of the second set sea ponies and their shells (Sand Dollar etc) cheap hiding in lots or BINs on eBay.

Hathorcat, thank you so much! Sorry, I didn't think to split the list up - I've been going through totes and boxes to compile the list and my brain was a bit fried by the time I posted. My apologies for the huge wall of text, I promise to limit my price checks in the future.

Thanks for your reply, MidnightVelvet. Blue Mist is a very pretty pony, I think! Would anyone have an opinion on pricing, even a ballpark for the more common g3s vs. the less common? Thanks for any help! ~Nicole

Hello! I've been away from the boards for a bit, keeping busy with work and raising my toddler. I've been working on my pony room and realized that I could use some of the room, so here I am trying to work out how to sell all these G3 ponies that are still MIB/MOC. Before I make a sales post, I wanted to post the list here to get an idea of what to price everything at to sell. I think I am still missing a few items from this list, which I will add as soon as I locate them. Obviously I have a ton, so even a general idea of what to price regular release items at, or which items should be priced higher, would be great. Also, would Craigslist or local sales be a good option, for those that I can't sell online? Thanks for any help!
