I love the idea of Lala having gloved hands. That makes her deliciously retro and stylish. She looks like she's dressed in a 50'ish or 60'ish kind of style and the gloves fit right in. I also love Cleo's look to bits!

Agreed!
The colors seem to be a callback to earlier Lala releases like 2.0 and Gloom Beach and her pencil skirt is so very lovely! It's a little odd how some people find her too old looking (not that this opinion is wrong or anything), but Scarah Screams is supposed to be 15 (younger than Lala, who is 16 in vampire years), wears mostly 60s retro chic like this Lala here and I have never seen anyone complain about her looking "old" o,o

Personally, I adore this version of Lala. But her outfit is definitely more of a "vintage" look than Scarah's. The pencil skirt and capelet are things one associates with an older time period; mid-50s to early 60s, and worn by secretaries or proper ladies. The go-go boots and other items Scarah wears are more of a "youth explosion" feel to them.

I know a lot of people aren't liking the re-cast shoes, but I feel that they were good choices; and if I'm not mistaken, the pink bat-wing ones are a new mold. I hope they continue with this line, like they seem to be doing with I <3 Fashion.

I was "meh" on the RM line, but I love that version of Frankie. I currently have her in the dress, but with the shoes from 1600.

This morning I didn't get up with hubby because I wasn't feeling well. I just came in here to turn the computer on and some of my dolls are wearing different clothes!

Guys...I think my husband plays with my dolls sometimes.  I suppose it's fair, I play his videogames all the time too.

That is so cute! I think that the concept of "playing" and redressing dolls is something a lot of grown-ups are interested in, at some level. I've seen dads and big brothers "helping" style dolls with their kids or little sisters before, and they could really get into it. My best friend was initially very put off when he found out I collected, but as time went on, he'd ask to see my collection and comment on the outfits. I think MH is particularly tempting, because they tend to have very imaginative and detailed pieces. Hopefully your husband made them look good!

I have a question. Does anyone else get concerned about the size of their collection, or even embarrassed? I was just thinking because I want about 25 dolls this year.....:drunk:

It's something I've been pondering lately. I've been a completist up until now. But I have so many, I don't have room to display them all. And all the fashions, and playsets, and the doubles of dolls from exclusive multi-packs just add to the bulk. It's why I'm slowly going through my collection and selling. Plus, it's not like I can share or enjoy my collection with any of my nearby friends. It's gotten to the point where I feel a little bit like a hoarder. Not that everyone with tons of dolls should feel like that; it's just how I feel about my own collection!

You should be able to replicate the hair style, for the most part. Sometimes mimicking the exact art/animation is hard, because of how partlines are rooted. Also, her hair is shorted, so be prepared to stop and re-curl; There have been times I've gotten almost entirely around a head and then had to re-do half of them. Of course, I do have boy hands, and my thumbs are stubby, so that might just be me lol.

I wouldn't recommend hairspray; it tends to have a higher alcohol content than a lot of gels/glues on the market, and can make the hair look "crispy". Some people prefer not to use gel at all to maintain the integrity of the hair. However, I do use a cheap mousse or gel from time to time. And one of my friends swears by Bedhead, slightly watered down when she "sets" her curls.

Finally, always leave the curlers in for a few days! My best results have come from about 2 1/2-3 days. Even if you use a hair product in the hair, the curls tend to fall quickly if you take them out too soon. Hope this helps!

Does anyone know if the new PD dolls are out in stores yet? Or if they will be before easter? My mom said that she would buy me one doll for easter and I was thinking those dolls would be the way to go. I just dunno if they'll be out in time.

One of my friends ordered them off a scalper on Ebay (he's crazy like that), so they are technically available. Definitely not widespread yet, and sometimes distribution is spotty when a line first releases. Maybe she can do an IOU if they aren't out yet.

hey guess what Vamp has another question xD

do all Abbeys have tinsel in their hair? I just bought the scaris one and didnt realize until I got home, so I didnt open it, but when I was in the store today I noticed that two other Abbeys, of different releases both had tinsel. so do they just all have it? if t hey do then I wont bother returning this one xD since i DO like the doll, id just prefer one without  tinsel if it was easy enough to find. :)

The only Abbey without tinsel (currently) is the single pack RM one. The exclusive 2 pack with Ghoulia has tinsel still.

Is Gil complete?

Yes, he is. Other than the stand being a black one instead of the orange or turquoise (can't remember which one mine came with), he comes with everything he would have come with in the box.

Did anyone notice that K-mart had the Die-ner on there website? it's "sold out" but looks like there the one to carry it when it comes out, so maybe it's not a walmart exclusive after all...
http://www.kmart.com/monster-high-die-ner-8482-and-draculaura-174-playset-and/p-004W003653101002P?prdNo=13&blockNo=63&blockType=G63

Pretty sure most retailers will be carrying that version of the Die-ner. I believe the exclusive one is the one that includes Operetta as well as Draculaura. Similar to how everyone sold the Coffin Bean set with Clawdeen, but only Costco had the exclusive version with  both her and Lala.

The Dollhouse / PC and Question on MH CaMs
« on: March 21, 2013, 11:44:22 AM »
So, I'm slowly thinning out my collection. Some of the first to go will be the CaMs, as I don't have a real attachment to them. I'm curious to know if people would be more interested in buying just the torso/upper limbs, or if they'd prefer the complete doll.

I will be posting in the classifieds soon, and may even open a sales thread. I will accept PMs about them, but please don't post your offers in this thread; just PC and/or whether or not you think they'd sell better complete or as torsos.
